Here's the thing about blind items :
With people like Deepika, Ranveer, Ranbir, Katrina, Alia, Varun, Sonam,Anushka and the whole gang, you just know if one gets shit published in the name of the other, they can hit back with equal viciousness. Somehow the equation of power is similar. Karan, Ranbir and gang could get the filthiest sh*t printed about people they hate but they have gotten what they served too. This level playing field somehow made things 'okay', for the lack of a better word. You can classify it under 'acceptable show business shenanigans'.
Even Salman, Shah, Aamir and Amitabh are not spared. But you just know these people have all done the same to each other. They know how to navigate these things with equal measure.
But With Sushant, there's no comparison. As an outsider with no support whatsover,he was hopelessly unarmed and without resources to give it back to people who chose to attack him that way and that's the glaring difference. He couldn't get back at Karan, Aditya Chopra, Jitesh -basically his whole clique of b*tches.
Do we know if any of those blind items were true, who knows. But did he deserve the constant barrage of them to the point that it was pretty clear and obvious that people were out to put a whole dent on his career and image this way.
Sushant's inability to give it back to the people who are no saints themselves makes the entire episode nothing but incessant bullying and targetted harassment. Karan and his gang picked on someone extremely vulnerable who couldn't hit back at them. Nobody can deny that. That's why the effect of 'blind items' is especially disturbing when it pertained to Sushant. One can't compare it to the rest.
