Those who put firecrackers in the fruits should be arrested and punished severely. Killing innocent animals is being justified now. Shame! 👎🏼

Its irrelevant whether it was given the fruit or it picked it up from a farm meant to deter wild boars. NO animals should be allowed to be killed in these archaic brutal slow death methods. Not even boars. There are modern technologies available which can be used. Explosives for this purpose, snares etc should be banned. Are we progressing the world or degrading? You think these methods to deter animals are right???? Progress means inculcating compassion and understanding for all species and co-existing as much as possible with least harm to other living beings.

Also now the truth is coming out that this boar story was just a smoke screen to hide the actual truth. The original story was correct. The bomb was just given for fun (of the idiot person) to the elephant. It wasnt on any farm or anything. (Even thought the farm protection story was also no justification for this incident)

2).The incident took place early in the morning and as soon as the villagers came to know this, they sought out the help of domesticated elephants to rescue the injured elephant. But sadly succumbed to her injuries before any action could be taken.

Hurt someone greviously and then say sorry. Great! I'm going to go murder a neighbour who I really hate --- tommorow I'll say sorry and pay for his cremation.

3).I totally sympathize with the elephant. But no it did not run around the village in pain screaming and crying as being potrayed in the media. This is the very reason why indian serials boom in India... pure exaggeration and playing with emotions.

Yeah you need melodrama to understand that of course an elephant whose mouth is blasted is going to be in pain. You need screams and shouts to understand that?

4).The forest department and the villagers admitted their mistake and gave proper cremation for the elephant (what has happened is still not justified ). You know what else is not justified, tying a dog and throwing it into water to make tiktok videos out of it and you all not having a problem with it or the very least not even knowing something like that happened.

Same answer as above: Hurt someone greviously and then say sorry. Great! I'm going to go murder a neighbour who I really hate --- tommorow I'll say sorry and pay for his cremation. And the dog incident was wrong too and the culprits were caught and booked. Unfortunately our animal protection laws are very weak and so they will probably get away by paying some minimum fines.

5). Last but not the least, for all those talking about animal cruelty, do you even know how scary it is to live in an area where there is a hoard of wild elephants. You all scream your hearts out when you see a baby lizard or cockroach, but ya you not are okay with the precautionary measures that the villagers take to save their own lives(still not okay to hurt animals).

You have to really have your heart in the right place to address this one. In earlier days our family used to use glue traps to trap rats to remove them from our house. We realize how harmful and brutal it is now and never do it. We use rat traps to now catch them and release them. You encroach forests and then expect it to be wild animal free. Have strict land demarking methods and donot allow forest areas to be encroached. Governments need to teach and implement newer more humane ways to control the man-animal conflict. Just sitting and saying they have a right to do it keeps us in the 18th century instead of adopting modern methods which are available.

Bang on. Agree with each word of yours. Nothing can justify this killing. Two wrongs can never make right. Firstly ,they are giving excuses and then picking out the dog's example and blaming it on others.

May be media and others are exaggerating the incident or may be that food was for boars but doesn't it show the carelessness on their part that any other animal could have eaten it? Although, I don't agree with this killing of boars especially in such cruel way.

There is a reason why animals are moving into areas where humans live, because we humans have taken their homes from them for our benefits.

Cruelty with any animal is wrong , even who make tick tocks with those dogs, they are wrong too but justifying one's crime by saying others are doing the same is also not right.

"

Yo, not denying the outrage over what happened in Kerala. It is cruel. However, at some point we'll have to start directing questions towards the system that let this happen.

The cracker laden pineapple was for protection of fields against wild boars. It was not 'fed' to the elephant by the locals. The elephant chanced upon it while wandering in the village. This was not a deliberate act of evil (at least as per the reports that are coming out, correct me if I am wrong). Tiktok cat killing was deliberate. Throwing puppies off terrace and filming it was deliberate. This particular act has not been proven as deliberate.

The system needs to investigate this, arrange for better remedies to protect the fields, they are someone's livelihood. Also, even if it's against wild boars, this particular remedy sounds evil and horrible.

What sort of remedies have the locals tried? What sort of similar problems have they faced in the past because of deforestation etc? What sort of remedies are being proposed to ensure this does not occur and the fields also are not destroyed? These are the questions that need to be asked.

We are evil. Humans need to die. Yes! But from my privileged position, I do not get the moral right to judge people who were protecting their livelihoods either, unless of course it is proven that this was a deliberate act. In that case, we all should anyway die."

Yet, I have to say that even killing a boar with food filled with crackers is a terrible idea. Killing anything in such a way is horrible, in my opinion. Keeping food stuffed with crackers can hurt any animal which consumes it, and it's a cruel way of killing.

* I have no idea about any other ways to keep boars away, but this just sounds nasty.

Very well said! 👏

See elephants' death shouldn't and couldn't be justified. But if the case is of wrong person in wrong place in wrong tike, than it shouldn't be called a deliberate crime.

I just wish that this incident do bring change in the system. Though, things don't change much even after so much outrage like we have many cases repeating. But it's very much needed to take some necessary steps for the healthy co -existence of humans and other organisms.

So you all are upset that the poor elephant was killed using a pineapple bomb, rather it should have been sent to a slaughterhouse processed and served on your plates.

Don't comment on animal cruelty while you eat butter chicken with naan.

Yes.. Not judging the farmers for protecting their crop if that's indeed the case. Though investigation is still on.

But this is not a lone incident in Kerala.. It has happened before. And when such incidents happen there r some talks about forest encroachment, wild life protection etc and then all is forgotten.. This is not the solution.

There is always a risk of unitentional victims.. Any animal can eat it ya? Even with shooting.. U can never be sure that it wont be misused

See I am not saying, those farmers shouldn't be punished if further investigation finds them culprit and this crime a first degree murder.

And yeah I myself gave the example of Mulappuram, but here we are talking about a particular situation.
