I can name you so many Love Stories where Hero is madly in love with heroine, even in some does strangest things & We have loved those HEROES like anything.

Again & Again saying u know ppl like Rahul doesn't help anything, i know their are evil like those in real life. But that isn't the question here, question is before that.

You're not getting the point. The fact that he started doing abnormal things after Kiran fell for another guy is proof that he was always insane.

If he was a normal person, he would not have done the things he did even after Kiran fell for another guy. Many people go through heartbreak but they don't go insane.

Whether he killed or harmed people before or not does not matter. His insanity was always there, it just manifested itself after Kiran went to Sunny.

My heart goes out for poor cute Rahul. He loved kiran with all heart while sunil just wanted to boom boom kiran. He murdered Rahul and is now walking free without being dragged to court. I seek justice for Rahul, he was a pure soul.

Rahul was a psycho, sadist, criminal-minded person who inflicted pain on himself and could inflict pain on others too. Feeling sorry or wanting such a person to be happy is disturbing.

Its just a movie

I don't remember much of this movie probably cos I was 5 and was barred from watching it. All that sticks out is my obsession with "tut gayi tut gayi" and SRK-Juhi as a pair.

Either way, it's no brilliant piece of writing nor do the characters have enough depth to lend itself to serious discussion.

And please don't quote me on this, for I'm not one to promote "the girl can change the guy" thinking, my knowledge of the film remains restricted to the tidbits I watched through the keyhole and not it's entirety.

In Pukar the enemy misled Madhuri that if she wants her love she has to get secrets from anil kapoor. Madhuri had no idea what those secrets were or that they can go against anil and he declared a traitor etc. Also she saves many people life risking her life after getting to know her error and intention of villan. Madhuri did crime in innocence and corrected it after realizng her mistake.

You cannot compare madhuri character to SRK in darr. Darr is a mans psycho obsession with a woman to such extent he tries to kill her husband sunny deol few times. He also constantly stalks and follows juhi every where. If Sunny deol was not there may be Juhis character would have met nirbhaya or chappak laxmi fate. Because juhi hated SRK and did noot love hm so once she rejects him in anger and ego hurt what would SRK do to Juhi? anyones guess. Thank God in movie Sunny was there to save her from that fate. In real life no such hero will be there and women suffer.

I would say SRK could be like Madhuri only if he had left Juhi alone after he knows shes married and not attack her husband etc and stalk her constantly. If you unknowingly do error or crime we can forgive but knowingly troubling others is wrong and criminal. If a girl says no its a NOOO.

People think this is mental illness,, not really. Why in western country men do not throw acid on rejected women? Why only india men will throw acid? Also why men stand in road corners passing comments on women in public. Can you do that in US?UK? not really. Thats because of the patriachial way boys are raised the cannot take rejection in life that too from second hand women. In india men are always told you are superior to a woman be it sister, wife, GF so they cannot reject you etc. Its like insult if woman rejects proposal. So to show they are manly and they thought lesson to girl who refused them they throw acid and sexual abuse etc. In US/Uk also men may think same but the laws are so strict hardly anyone dare attack women who reject them with acid.

So many people have no mother or father do they behave like Rahul, many have parents but those parents never care for them do they act like Rahul not really. So lets not blame poor rahul not having mother and father being busy for his behaviour. In todays world parents work 10-12 hours are never there for kids not all act psycho like Rahul. Lets stop finding reasons to approve rahuls behaviour.

But people really cried for him and felt bad for him 😆

Also, movies are inspired from real life.

I cried and pitied him. I think those emotions stemmed from the raw vulnerability displayed by the actor (SRK). It isn’t that the character of ‘Rahul’ itself which evoked sympathy, but rather the actor’s ability to show a very mentally unstable young man, whom has completely lost his sense of sanity due to his fixated obsession with Kiran. By no means do I condone his behaviour. Feeling sorry for another person does not equate to supporting their actions. I just looked at the overall bigger picture, and pitied the life events and triggers that may have contributed to his mental illness (Predisposing Factors = biological vulnerability to a mental health condition? Precipitating Factors = triggers (childhood trauma/neglect? Perpetuating Factors = No family support/medical treatment/neglect) and etc.

The producers intentionally added all the emotional baggage (him talking to his dead mother on the phone) to really milk the idea that Rahul is seriously disturbed. If they didn’t want to evoke any sympathy from the audience, then they could have just portrayed him as a psychotically obsessed lover (with zero insight into his background life). But no, they added the whole dead mother + son angle, because it is an aspect that most people can empathise with. It would be awful to see someone talking to their mother on the phone and truly believing she’s on the other line - despite being dead.

That’s just my perspective on it. In Psych training, the focus is to be as objective and empathetic as possible (though it can be extremely hard in some circumstances). But I totally respect your POV and understand where you’re coming from. Obviously a criminal needs to be punished regardless of mental health disorders, but for most cases you cannot help but feel sad for the child that they once used to be. The child who turned into a monster as an adult because they were exposed to deplorable living environments (trauma, sexual/physical abuse, severe neglect, drugs). My heart cries for the child who never really had a fair chance to begin with. This doesn’t apply to Rahul, but just an overarching statement about majority of people suffering from mental health problems 😊

ANDDD I’m tuning out. It’s 4am here and I refuse to lose anymore sleep over a fictional character 😆

Well Rahul was obviously bad. It's there in the song lyric itself "tu haan kar ya naa kar tu hai meri Kiran" like he doesn't care about her consent if she wants him or not, if she says yes or no it doesn't matter. All that matters is him. He was selfish and obsessed, it wasn't love
