Akki's whole career is based on this lie ....if it wasn't then he would have long accepted he had canadian passport .

I won't be suprised if Akki will get indian passport along with canadian passport even though one can't have dual nationality ....this govt openly makes and breaks rules in favour of their own, this will be a minor thing which nobody would even notice .

Why does it matter if he's a Canadian or an Indian?

He's of Indian origin. He lives in India. Was born in India. Speaks one of the languages of India. Pays taxes in India.

For me at least a couple things

1. Repeatedly lying about it which looks like 100% self serving opportunism and shows evidence of a guilty conscience. If he thought it was okay, why hide it? (Personally I also am generally offended by liars lying in a way that makes it clear they think the people they are lying to are incredibly stupid.)

2. The sheer hypocrisy of someone claiming to be this great patriot sucking up to government/politicians when in reality years and years ago he had formally and legally renounced his allegiance to India and formally and legally pledged allegience to another country which he then had to keep secret because, as above, consciousness of guilt.

Bottom line, the fact that he lied and lied and lied until he couldn’t lie anymore tells you exactly how he felt about what he’d done.

There's also the option with money - i.e. if you priove you have enough money deposited in a bank in Canada.. then you can show you can support yourself.. then you get residency based on the sum and then you can apply for citizenship. Bussiness people and athletes/celebs do this a lot.

Maybe Akki got it that way.

Still.... he had to renounce the Indian one because India doesn't allow double citizenship, right?

So whichever way he got the CANADIAN one.. he had to renounce his Indian one.

To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must:

• be a permanent resident.
• have lived in Canada for 3 out of the last 5 years.
• have filed your taxes, if you need to.
• pass a test on your rights, responsibilities and knowledge of Canada.
• prove your language skills.
