Deepika to throw a Wrap Up Party for '83

After shooting a major portion of the Kabir Khan-directorial, ’83, in London, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone along with the other cast members filmed the last leg in Mumbai. The shoot, which included some patchwork scenes, will be completed today, and with this, the final schedule wraps up.

Based on India’s first Cricket World Cup win, it has Ranveer stepping into the shoes of Kapil Dev, while wife Deepika plays his spouse Romi Dev. So excited was the Padmaavat actress about the project that she decided to co-produce the sports film. And now, as the shoot wraps up, she is planning to throw a bash for the cast and crew at BKC. “Deepika wants to celebrate the journey of the shoot of ’83. She has personally written a letter to each and everyone from the team inviting them for the party,” says a source.

Her letter reads, “Member of team ’83, Over the last several months iconic moments have been relieved and memories have been etched in our hearts forever.

I am beyond proud to be a part of a team that is driven by love, passion, enthusiasm and eternally grateful for your contribution.

And for this, I would like to invite you to a celebration!

The makers will also unveil a glimpse of Ranveer in the iconic ‘Natraj Shot’, playing at the Turn Bridge Wells ground, where Kapil Dev scored 175 runs in the league match against Zimbabwe in 1983.

It's sweet gesture of her to invite the cast and crew as a producer. Shows the dedication towards the team.

Of course the way her team was cared for and looked after, even in their wedding celebrations, it's not surprising.

Mmm it is nice of her but not sure it is appropriate. She is not a lead actor in this movie so it is not her place to do this. Gosh, when did Deepika become so self centred and fame hungry!

She is one of the producers, so this is appropriate of her to do, and it's a sweet gesture to arrange a party for the whole team, nothing self centred about it

She is not the main producer (nor the main/lead actor); she joined the team later as a co-producer. No one ever does that in the industry. It is up to the main producers/director or lead actor to personally invite people to thank them/celebrate. It is their time to shine and thank people since they did all the work. For her to write a note to them personally as if she directed the movie or was the star of the movie is embarrassing and controlling.

Because it is a pr move for her...the articles talking about her gesture are all over the net. But interestingly her being a producer is not even mentioned on the movie’s pages. She is clearly not a main/lead producer and joined later. So I reiterate what I said; it is not for her to do this. Is it so hard for her to just let people shine and stay in the background? Her husband is always mocked for being in her shadow and yet she can’t help but get involved. I used to love Deepika but she’s become way too caught up in pr tactics.

its just a wrap up party, deepika likes to host parties for film teams and for friends and family, and she is still a producer and a part of the film, i don't think the team are complaining, they'll be happy to go to a party arranged for them

deepika herself said her role is very small, and the first look of the movie was of ranveer, in the article they said they are going to release another look of ranveer as kapil dev, so ranveer is the lead and that is clear, the next looks will be of the other players in the team
