You had Dev, Raj and Dilip trio, Rishi and the 70s actors and in the 80s, you had Anil, Jackie and then Salman and Aamir's starting out.. and doing their thang... until ofc Srk came in and tried to take advantage of the status quo and dominate or at least create an 'illusion' of domination, actively spreading titles as 'King khan', 'badshah' etc.. and the rest just kept doing their thaaang. It's only the late 2000s that everyone body else started with their PR etc. suddenly everybody else was getting as much exposure/acclaim for their work.. that Srk 'new money' started losing it.. and got left behind..

Sharughan Sinha and Amitabh Bachchans frenemy relationship is well known;

Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar in Andaaz were bratty to the extent that they never worked together again

There was a lot of tension between actresses too- Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil, Praveen Babi and Zeenat Aman, Sri and Jaya Prada, just to name a few

There was always fierce competition among top stars. Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff fought like cat mouse for smallest of things, so did Salman Khan- SRK, Sridevi-Jayaprada and others. There will always be competition, quarrel and skirmishes when so much is at stake.

SRK was without any doubt the most popular star of 90's. He already had a huge, dedicated, diverse fanbase when he entered the films, thanks to extremely popular serials like Fauji, Circus and Doosra Keval. The guys liked him, he was heartthrob of girls and grownups loved him . So when Deewana happened people went to see SRK not RK or DB. With movies SRK just mulitplied his fanbase. No male star in 90's could really catch up with his popularity in 90's, he was just too far ahead and even flops did not affect him much, that is why he dared to do banal third rate films like Guddu only for money.

Amir Khan was one of the most successful star of 90's, I think he had one of the best success ratio in 90's and has maintained it even today.

Lets not talk about Salman Khan, he had his fanbase but he was never in the running with SRK or AK.

From Kapoors to Chopras to Johars to Burmans to Akhtars to Khans to Roshans to Mukherjees to Bhatts to Khannas to Sens to Dhawans. Most of the best directors, technicians, musicians, actors hv come from film families. U cannot simply dismiss them just bcoz they r lucky to be born as an insider.

I prefer them anyday over ungrateful arrogant badly behaved overrated whiny outsiders who come thru crooked means. Deal with it 😎

beautifully summed up with logic

Nargis's mom had a colorful life. These days the life of a BW star is so tame compared to the oldies.

I cannot stop laughing at the LACK OF KNOWLEDGE of those who thinks srk was the BIGGEST STAR OF 90S smiley39.

* This is a common knowledge for all Bollywood viewers that Anil, Sunjay dutt, Sunny deol were BIGGER STARS then all the three khans from early to MID 90's.

Khans came after these three, and ajay akshay sunil saif were in the 3rd row after Khans.

* Also from mid to end of 90's all 3 Khans were equal in popularity. Salman and Aamir were darlings of everyone's hearts right from their proper debut in MPK & qsqt. Srk came into limelight as a lead hero only after mid 90s post Ddlj.

* Salman has MORE NUMBER OF HITS in 90's and the BIGGEST HIT EVER in Hahk which did 711 crores net business compared to 460 crores of Ddlj which is a HUGE 250 crores SHORTER then HAHK. (I will make a separate thread over this soon with all no. of hits of salman & srk in the 90's decade).

* Srk's real peak was from early to Mid 2000's only.

* Also not to forget, after yash chopra's death and KAran johar disowning him, srk's stardom been EXPOSED as he was majorly depending on these two banners for biggest hits of his career, playing always safe unlike aamir and salman.

* And its also a known fact that srk single handedly brought down the credibility of awards, many actors boycotted the awards functions due to his manipulations & games, those who used to regularly attend award functions before the entrance of this cunning hamming actor.
