Yes, I'll say no one believes your theory here. Atleast not the fandoms otherwise there had been no bashing and mocking of actors based on their movies box office performance.

Tbh it's just an excuse for fans to one up each other and try to make their fave look better, but the reality is that it's not the star that makes the movie a hit anymore, to some extent they can contribute to buzz and maybe opening numbers, but opening numbers mean nothing unless the film sustains at the box office. TOH had big opening numbers, but in just a few days the collections plummeted down and now people just remember the movie being a flop, coz the content wasn't good enough

Read carefully what Luna has written on her comment, she did not disagree with your points but rather telling that in the forum the members hardly believe in the reality and keep worshipping their fav as in their favorite actor is the only Superstar in the town, while downgrading rest of the actors. That's why so many bashing keeps happening everyday, and each of the actor's BO performances are being judged.The biased fans keep forgetting that nowadays it's actually the movie and it's content that does well in the box office, rather than the actors themselves.
