I know the make up man did a great job but I found it offensive to Laxmi and all other acid attack victims and their families. No one wants to be called scary or witness sudden showering of sympathy from everyone. Trust me, the disabled or acid attack victims doesn't want to be treated specially. They want everyone to treat them like normal people.

That does not make the look offensive.. It makes the reactions to the look offensive.. The look is on point.. Thats how an acid attack survivor can look.. How people perceive it is up to the them.. The onus does not fall on makers
In mny opinion, they did not show the survivor as a victim.. She is shown smiling.. That alone is sufficient to tell that its not sympathy she is looking

They should have casted a real acid attack survivor to showcase their struggles instead of doing heavy make up to Deepika. Atleast it would have looked better.

What was your problem with it? I understand what you're saying about wanting to be treated normally but if DP is suppose to look like an acid attacked victim after the attack in the movie what's wrong with showing that? Had it been a picture of DP without the makeup then people might think that they're trying to sell the movie just because it has DP in it. But this poster makes it clear it's about the character.

A real acid attack survivor will not know how to act. Secondly its can be highly traumatic for them to act through an incident that actually happened to them for real and changed their lives forever. Thirdly its a movie not a documentary, so its ok if an actor does it rather than an actual survivor of the incident.

That does not make any sense considering that its not necessary that a real survivor knows acting.. And I think they will in the beginning show the girl prior to the attack.. how do you propose to do that with a real survivor?
And would showing real survivor change the "sympathy" you seem to have a problem with post the look?

The whole point of the movie is to draw attention towards the victims who often get neglected by public, our institutions, and media.😕

They would be more than happy to share their stories with the world and whether they have got justice or not - enabling people to put pressure on police if denied justice.

Them getting sympathy or people scared doesn't feature anywhere in this, AT ALL! 😡

And people ACT in films. We need actors. It's not a documentary that we have to cast the actual victims.

This take is stupid full offence. Chhapaak isn't an acid attack documentary. Its a full blown movie which has to cover everything from their lives before the act, immediately after the attack and after the surgery. Pray tell, how this can be achieved with an actual victim.

Sonam played a lesbian but is she one in the first place? I never saw this question popping up then when that is very valid cause lesbian actresses could fulfill the narrative just the same. The before and the after.

This entire thing of representation came to mainstream hood due to Scarlett Johansson playing asian roles. And thats fair. Asian roles should be assigned to Asians because they can fulfill the entire narrative just the same as Scarlett. Trans people can do the same. But will the same be valid for differently abled roles where the before and after is required. I hope this answers why actors and not actual victims to play something like this.

Deepika's pan india popularity and place in the industry, the country and amongst the Indian diaspora will bring it so much awareness. The way the first look broke the internet and got people talking. A full blown movie on this will do wonders.

Lastly, the movie is being made consulting survivors and I havent seen one survivor say anything negative. Even Kangana's sister is supporting this which just shows that it's made its mark regardless of equations. The only people having a problem with this are few so called pseudo woke rats on Twitter. Imagine speaking over actual victims who have come outta support just for fake outrage purposes lol. A whole joke.
