Male audiences like to see hot scenes between two women (They want subtle when it's about gay men) woh nahin tha movie mein. They were happy with Lipstick Under Burkah, VDW (eventhough upar upar se they bashed them on behalf of their grandma)... Coz those movies catered what male audiences crave.

Also raju's sexual harassment case took away the attention from the film.
Yeh film was criticized for coming to the point very late

1. Needed more promotion, main cast should've started promoting maybe two weeks prior, even if Sonam wasn't available.

2. India maybe still not be ready, although the film was really cute and entertaining.

3. Only released in 1000-1200 screens in India, the makers themselves said they weren't expecting huge numbers just wanted the impact which with the positive reviews/reaction they felt they got.

Compare almost 3000 screens most main stream movies get the collections were always gonna be affected.

But a positive thing is that it did well in the international markets even though places like the Middle East didn't release it.

😊

Absolutely no promotion and not that good a storyline and niche bhi hai.
I wonder how the movie would have been if Ranveer had played the main role instead of Sonam. Maybe a gay love story.

Sonam has had success though, she's not a flop star by any means.

The movie didn't get a good WOM. Now that can be because of the subject, or maybe it was really a bad film as the reviews suggest. Audience are kinda open to these type of taboo subjects. That Shakti show about transgenders was a TRP topper once upon a time(another thing that the show made a joke out of transgenders). Maybe Bollywood should start with Bisexuals, showing a love triangle, so that audience also gets a "traditional" couple romance. But the thing is, will any director take on this subject atleast for next 5 years, now that this film has flopped badly.

Most of the reviews were good. The only major criticism was that there wasn't enough of Sweety & Kuhu.

India not ready yet for this. Especially girls.

No hit songs. It helps. A lot.
Lacklustre trailer.

But bigger of all is bad execution of the movie. If screenplay is good, acting is at par, movies become hit these days. They will despite everything above

Hmm I guess though two songs at least were well received. Did you watch the movie?

I don't think outright hot scenes would've helped the BO result, a story arc would have.

They took it right up to the interval to get to the point when they could've done so much more with the first half.

Yeh I don't get why it had such a limited screen amount. They should've given it at least 1800-2000 screens.

I wouldn't call the movie a failure either, it did get a reaction. It's just that not enough people saw it.
