HKKN was in 70's...In 80's he had only flops...

Take for example Utkarsh Sharma's debut...I am sure not just u many of them will use google search engine to knw abt him...was there any curiosity abt Utkarsh or any buzz around his film as it was his debut?compare it with Jhanvi or Sara's debut...

Social media hype in current times cannot be compared to pre- internet age hype in 80s, 90s. But lots more people read magazines and newspapers, the people who are on the net now were getting their BW info from mags and papers. It wasnt just Stardust, Filmfare, there were film mags in all languages, Hindi, Bangla, Gujrati etc
Yes, when movie was announced the producers had a Mahurat, pics were published of the Mahurat and Puja, janta came to know which movie starred which actor's son. As for Juhi, we were the audience, we know Juhi was already famous as she had won the Miss India before QSQT, plus she had done Sultanat before that so that wasnt her debut movie

Narrative changes strangely over the years, and these BW people say something else now than what we have witnessed back then. Like people say now Sholay was flopping in 1st two weeks, that is so untrue. It had hype right from the start, the director Ramesh Sippy had already given several superhits, movie had Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh, Dharam, Hema, Jaya, the movie already had tremendous hype at the time of release.
We went to watch QSQT in 2nd week, it already had hype of starring the pretty Juhi Chawla / Ms India and the cute new actor who was Nasir Hussain's nephew. There was no SM back then but WOM spread quite fast through friends, relatives and people also read critics reviews in newspapers and mags.
Also critics back then were not so harsh on most films, they mostly gave positive reviews, never trashed films so brutally as they do now.
Anyway. all these insider kids had name recognition from who they were related to, whereas the outsiders were the unknown faces and names who had to establish their cred from successful debuts.

that info was there abt every film nothing new there ...like others u went to watch the film bcoz it was good...WOM factor...or they liked the songs whose 30 sec promo was aired in DD...not bcoz the actor was producer Nasir Hussain's nephew...
When it comes to kids/siblings of stars who have graced the screen for years, the audience watch their films due to them...which also reflected in the opening week numbers of Bobby-Twinkle's Barsaat, Abhishek-Kareena's Refugee and many starkids movies...they get curious as to how diff or similar they r to their parents when it comes to acting,style...

Very Interesting topic 😃

I feel like moving forward, Bollywood is definitely going to be the most nepotistic era. There are way too many star kids that are getting launched, or already launched or most probably will be launched. For ex: Sonam, Sonakshi, Suraj, Alia, Varun, RK, Tiger, Athiya, Jhanvi, Sara, Ishan, Pranutan, Ayan Shetty, Ahaan, Ananya, Suhana, Shanaya, Khushi, Nysa, Navya, Aryan, Arav, Aliyah K, Alia Eff, and probably many more. Thats way too many star kids/insiders. Everyone's sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins etc. are getting launched now 😆
Sometimes I wonder do these star kids not have any other interests besides movies? 😕. Why don't we ever hear so and so's kids are studying medicine, or law, or business. I just don't understand how can everyone be interested in films 😆.

Don't know much about before 90's as I wasn't born 😆. I honestly didn't even know Ajay was a star kid.. found that out through this forum. Of course, the obvious ones I knew, like Rishi, Karishma, Kareena, Abhishek, Hrithik , Kajol, Rani etc. I was really young when KKHH released so I didn't watch it then, but when I watched it later, I was shocked to find out Rani and Kajol were cousins.

I feel like after KJO launched Alia, nepotism has been talked about more, of course thanks to Kangy. Because of this, no one can escape nepotism questions now. I feel its also the star kids and their parents, they all want KJO to mentor their kids like Alia. Its kinda funny how most parents depend on KJO to launch their kids. Kangy was right, he is the movie mafia 😆
