Agar Dhadak mai Jhanvi(Sri wala sympathy nahi hota) toh Ishaan ko dekh ne ghanta koi jata.

But you were saying it's audiences fault. Toh iss decade se pehle audience itne invested nahin the leaving 2-3 superstars sons... Lekin aaj audience Arjun Kapoor ke bhi debut movie ko good opening dilwate hai because of manipulation.
Sri factor ko chod bhi de toh bhi Ishaan ki movie ko Laila Majnu se achcha opening milta... Ab Beyond The Cloud ko matt le aana... Even Aamir Khan couldn't have given that movie a huge opening, Dhobi Ghat and Secret Superstar are the proof.

raj wants us to believe that people didn't know Aamir, Sallu and Ajay were not known as industry kids 😆...
It cannot be coincident that all of their first movies were major hits😆.
People used to get super excited when star kids debut.
I mean just look at Refugee, highest opening day of all time during its release, only because it is AB' son

I think audience is as much at fault as the people involved.[/QUOTE]
This.

We as audience get super excited when a starkid is launched, don't show the same excitement for outsiders.

Answer to original Q - No it is not

Prithviraj Kapoor - Raj, Shammi, Shashi - Randhir, Rishi, Rajeev, Karan (I think that's his name) - the next gen
Cousins Boney, Anil, Sanjay Kapoor

Yash Chopra, Yash Johar, Ravi Chpora, Simi Garewal, Karan Johar

Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Anoop Kumar

Dev Anand - unsuccesful brothers - Shekhar Kapur (son of Vijay Anand, IIRC)

Guru Dutt, Shyam Benegal, Kalpana Lajmi

So many more

The difference between then and now is Karan Johar. The others promoted their families, and to some extent, played little games to snatch movies. KJo, OTOH, actively works to tear down the competitors of his cronies. He had no need to plant stories about Shraddha or Parineeti, no need to spread gossip about Kartik Aryan or Rajkumar Rao or Ranveer or whoever was considered threat du jour. But he does. In my decidedly inexpert opinion, this is a very short-sighted game he is playing, esp in the era of web content. People have options. They're not tied to the movie theaters for entertainment.

I didn't said it is fully audience fault. I said we are as much at fault.

Secondly Arjun was Boney ka beta, Anil ka bhatija and when the trailers and songs were released, while obviously many didn't go gaga over him, but he had found a certain females fans who loved his rugged masculine looks, hain abhi woh phul ke gaynda ban gaya hai. There was excitement about him and there were factors which helped the movie to get a decent opening.

Ishaan is still Shahid ka bhai, so obviously there would be some hype, but Jhanvi na hoti toh itna hype nahi hota. Just look at that Ranbir cousin ka movie, kaab aya kaab gaya pata nahi chala. Arjun, Jhanvi, Athiya aren't the examples suitable for your argument, because unke baap bhai log famous hai still in public memory.
Aur Laila Majnu ko toh ish forum ne bhi trailer ke time pe reject kiya tha, toh ushme toh insiders ki kiya galti.

aur Aamir ke woh films, agar BOI ke hisab se bole toh European film the, toh opening toh kash hongi nahi.

Tum jo bol rahi ho ki, today people even before debut can reach audience sach hai, lekin the level of excitement still varies from famous person's off springs to not so famous person's off springs. Jo ki pehle bhi hota tha.

Of course, it isn't. I was talking about when Parineeti was making waves, and Alia was not. i watched the KwK shows where every friggin guest HAD to choose between them, and KJo made it very clear who he wanted them to choose. He still does it. Parineeti played into it by trying to compete with Alia instead of building her own identity. The rumors about Shraddha impacted her a bit, but seems she has figured out her USP, and she knows Alia cannot match it.
