is the movie really that good? i mean i'm just wondering, coz for it to have a better 3rd friday than 3 idiots it wud have to be a phenomenal movie, from wat ive heard its a well made film but not amazing, i see alot of people surprised at how well the movie is trending tbh

Its not the best film ever. There were better film out there even last year. But the event on which it is based was quite recent. There was a lot of news coverage at that time, thus people are I guess are emotionally invested in this.

Also the film is really well made, you don't get bored at any point of time. Also watching it in the theatre was an amazing experience.

Another point I guess is weak competition from other films which have released this month.

i understand the emotional connect to the story, and i guess that is a big factor as to why it is doing so well, tbh i even predicted that the movie wud be a hit before its release because of the films subject coz its a event that really shocked and hurt alot of people, and at that point alot of people did want justice, and i guess this film really did bring out the emotions that alot of indians had

but yeh even wen its a well made movie i dont think people expected it to be doing this well, i guess weak competition from other films has also played a part in it

some of the people i spoke to who watched it liked the film but some also thought it was underwhelming, but i dont see anyone praising it like they hav about movies like 3 idiots and sanju, yet uri has been trending better than those films, thats why i asked is it a phenomenal movie

It is not some phenomenal movie, but definitely a pretty good movie. I didn't watched it with huge expectations so I really liked it. But I think some people went in with huge expectations seeing the excellent trending, that is the reason they found it underwhelming. I think everyone should watch it at least once.

Not 3rd but 4th Fri ..trending is amazing actually ..today i went 3.40pm show & it was housefull ..even front rows r full ..main reason is bec the whole surgical strike is still fresh in people's mind and bec there was so much secrecy about how the Govt managed it at night without letting anyone get even slight hint about it, so people were curious to know what went behind in creating such a histotical moment for India ..and the detailing shown in movie was amazing ..U r always on the edge of your seat fr 2 hrs and its a fab experience watching it in theatre ..

I will give my own review tomorrow .Really loved the movie ..yeah there mayb better movies fr sure but where Uri works is bringing out the patriotic emotion within ourselves ..last time it happened while watching border and now its with uri ..

thats wat i was thinking, its a movie that brings out the patriotism and emotions of indians, i even knew before the film released that the movie will do well coz of the subject and event that happend, vicky is very lucky that he was in the film, he really hit the jackpot with it, its the best boost he cud have ever got, yes vicky is a very good actor and he did a great job in the film, but i imagine the film wud have done equally as well with actors like ranbir, ranveer, tiger, varun and even rajkumar and ayushman, again i'm not taking any credit away from vicky, he seems to have done a wonderful job in the film

I guess u need a well built actor to play the role of captain Vihaan and also someone who can give a dignified restrained performance ..Vicky really suits the character ..after watching him I cannot imagine anyone else playing it to b honest ..its like some characters r made fr some actors ..Just how I cant imagine anyone playing Rancho other than Aamir in 3 idiots or anyone playing Bajirao other than Ranveer in BM or anyone playing Chulbul pandey other than Salman in Dabang or anyone playing Munnabhai other than Sanjay Dutt in munnabhai series , same way I feel captain Vihaan is tailor made for Vicky here .. 👏

true, wen a actor does a role they make it their own, wat i am saying is that the biggest selling point of the film is the story and topic, so it wud have been successful with any other competent actor in it aswell, because it is a fast paced thrilling movie, but i'll like to repeat again that i'm not taking any credit away from vicky for his good performance

More Historic Records For Uri - Ek Ladki Going Nowhere

Uri - The Surgical Strike continues its insane run as it breaks records by margins. The fourth Saturday will go to 6 crore nett plus which easily smashes each outright Hindi film out of sight as 3 Idiots was around 3.90 crore on its fourth Saturday. So a non Bahubali - The Conclusion record is there for the fourth Saturday.

But Bahubali - The Conclusion grossed 6.20 crore nett on its fourth Saturday and Uri - The Surgical Strike could actually beat it when final collections come in the morning. The importance of this is that Bahubali - the Conclusion holds all daily records from the first Monday till the fifth Thursday. This is 32 days in a row where it has daily all time records. Now there is a chance this record run may be broken by Uri - The Surgical Strike.

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has faced the expected rejection at the box office. The film will grow around 40% to 4 crore nett but today this is nothing for a film opening to such low numbers. These subjects on gays and lesbians are not relatable but more on that on another day.

As mentioned earlier in a column here that the combo of Vinod Chopra Films and Anil Kapoor gave the 90's audience insomnia with Parinda (1989) and 1942 - A Love Story (1994) and things have not changed a couple of decades later. It takes really great minds to make a film on a subject that should be scrapped on paper but sadly many of these great minds actually do exist in the Hindi film industry and the other industries across India will be praying that these great minds stay put.
