Watched Manikarnika yesterday evening show at my local multiplex, there were 7-8 more people in the small cozy theater, with reclining seats. The audience was all older people, no youngsters or kids.My Review: May contain SpoilersI found the movie engrossing, well made, action packed and at least 70% historically accurate.Kangana was magnificient in her role, she WAS Manikarnika in every way, she lived the role of the warrior queen a hundred percent! She is undoubtedly the BEST actress of her generation! 👏She even modulated her voice to a deeper pitch, she controlled her accent to enunciate every dialogue clearly so I had no difficulty understanding every line. And how beautiful did she look, in that red sari, in the royal dresses, in the beginning scene when shes hunting the tiger with open tresses ...she looked STUNNING! ⭐️I dont know what the heck people were complaining abt that other actors roles were cut 😕Jishu, Ankita, Danny all had ample screen space although the focus was on the queen which is expected since the movie IS abt her. Im glad focus was not shifted on other side characters but remained on the queen and the main people in her life, the Raja, her son, and her loyal friends and followers, Jhalkaribai, Ghaus Khan and later Tantiya TopeIm glad that they cut off Sonu's macho role and replaced him with Zeeshan, Sadashiv was a ratty nasty traitor and he shd not have been portrayed as a macho antagonist to glorify him.The British generals with their cruelty, their obnoxious arrogance were bad enough pitted against the defiantly brave queen.Manu's journey from a spirited lass, to a defiant queen to a determined widow and mother to a deadly warrior was all portrayed brilliantly by KanganaThe battle scene inside Jhansi fort, the battle scene at the end, all were heart pumping, violently realistic, some of the best battle scenes Ive watched in Hindi cinema.Everyone in the audience was laughing at Gen Hugh Rose when he had the nightmare of the Queen appearing as Maa Kali 😆The Mahishashuramardini chants during battle preparations and war scenes really gave me goosebumps ⭐️ Also when Kashibai sees Manu standing in front of Maa Durga in warrior pose - goosebumpsManu was fighting like a woman possessed, cutting thru British soldiers right and left with ferocious strength and agility. That jump on horseback from fort wall with her kid tied on her back was a bit overdone but that much suspension of disbelief is allowed.Raja and Manu scenes were very cute, hot and romantic and showed the deep respect, love and understanding between them. I hope Kangana and Jishu pair up again because now Im hankering to see them romance again 😳😆The baby's death, the Raja's death scenes were very emotional, poignant, Manu's reactions were 😭The British and Sadashiv were such evil monsters, it was infuriating to see their heinous acts!Loved the scene when Manu trapped the General in a rope and dragged him along, she shd have killed him right then and not spared that 🤬At the end when Queen burns herself in front of the General on the battlefield rather than fall into enemy hands, u could see Hugh Rose was in awe of her bravery and sacrifice. The VFX wasnt that good but then at that budget it couldnt have been much better. The palatial sets, design and art decoration was apt and tastefully done, loved Raja's library and throne. Hated it when that Captain Gordon burned down the Raja's library 😡I always like to watch historicals and especially movies which try to show the story in a linear way, without getting sidetracked or focused on royal trappings, palace sets and costumes.Overall Manikarnika was a satisfying and paisa vasool historical movie for me, I would recommend people to watch it on big screen for the full experience.I think it can make upto 100 crores if it sustains for 2 more weeks. Im surprised that its not getting more appreciation that it should have, as it has some deeply genuine patriotic ethos and amazing performance from Kangana, Jishu, Danny and others. My rating: 4 out of 5 stars
