He went there for his phone yet he waited there for her mom to finish what she is saying about his family and listened to the whole thing when he could've easily interrupted way before and ask for his phone.

Also I wasn't saying only with reference to this film but generally in life too, I think people eavesdrop because they want to hear what others are saying

nah, you are being too critical of Nakul, he just happened to reach there when she was saying things about his parents, plus we never knew when he reached, at first, or last.

Hahah i had this discussion with my friend after movie...
We were on opposite ends but came to conclusion that it was a unique situation where everyone was right in their place.

But when Ayushman came for apology, her mother should have apologized too. I think it didnt happen...

As I have already said, There was absolutely nothing wrong with what Renee's mother said. Movie tried to portray that pregnancy is an easy thing with no risks involved which is not true and might rub people in a wrong way. Whatever she said was right, Why should she marry her daughter to someone who's already struggling financially and then his stupid family manages to bring more burden to the family.

Why shouldn't he eavesdrop when the discussion was about HIS family? And he was polite enough, if it was me I wouldn't have even looked back on Renee and her family ever again in my life unless they came begging for forgiveness.

Nakul's love for Renee made him a bit spineless there; though it's understandable since some people want to avoid conflict at all costs.

Why should one apologize or beg for forgiveness for something said in private? It is Renee's mother who said this who anyways had a problem with her dating Nakul. She never said all those bitter words to Nakul or his family to shame them. It was a private conversation between a mother and a daughter in their home. You can't stop someone from discussing about you in private. That's none of your concerb of what the other person thinks about you or your family in private. Now if what Renee's mom said would have happened in say a wedding, in front of people then it's a different thing but what two people talk about in private is none of your business even if they are talking about you or your family.
He was neither supposed to be there or hear what her mom said.

Having opinion and discussing with your daughter about her BF's family is fine..
But when the same conversation doesn't remain "private" anymore and ends up getting heard by the same guy who's family you were dissing ... it's just polite to apologize that he had to hear it all! ... Nakul wasn't at fault and neither was her mom for having an opinion! ...

But when everything comes out in open, a discussion and apology is needed from both ends! ... Mom doesn't get a "free pass" in the given situation ... It just reiterates the "elders are never wrong and that kids should apologize regardless" mentality of our culture! ... An apology doesn't hurt anyone but at the same time elders shouldn't get a free pass either for insulting others!

No re,he was there, Sanya suddenly looks at him behind because she has been looking at her mom's face for a while. I just checked that scene on hotstar before writing my post.😆 Also if he has reacted the way he did, he must have heard it from a long time only na?
