When did i say men should'nt change or we shouldn't stop the men? Of course we should. Are we successful but? Nirbhaya case was such an uproar. But what happened in the many years that followed. Rape cases stopped? Still a rape happens almost every hour in this country.
Men don't change their behaviours, its a fact which is rather unfortunate. Self defence is actually of prime importance if we want these incidents to reduce.
Getting men to stop is actually an uphill climb..unless strict laws are made or something that really freaks men out that they don't even look at u lustfully they WILL NOT change. They don't fear repercussions that is a fact in most places. They think they can pressurise the victim into keeping quiet or giving in to them. So for that, women need to stand up for themselves n say a no first.
Is it that easy to stop it all at a "No"?! .. When it comes to harassment and rape, it's the "power angle" which makes it so much challenging for women to "stand up" ... Self defence and all is good ... but when there are 3-4 guys, how is a woman going to use self defence against that many?! ...
In work environment again it's power struggle .. women who suffer "casting couch" or harassment have to deal with "powerful people" ... again standing up becomes so darn challenging like putting your entire "LIFE" on risk .. In country like India or anywhere to be frank, "POWER" is biggest monster women face till date! ... And even if I were to go beyond women, when it comes to powerful people with monetary value, it's a very steep battle that is rarely won by "common man" ...
So it's easy to say "stand up for yourself" or be high on "self defense" but against "powerful" men, it's a f**king messed up and hopeless situation to be in! ... Why else do you think women time and again fail to get justice in a country like India? .. So solution is to teach men to keep their shizz in control and respect women and their boundaries! ...
