Simmba had the 11th highest first week total of all time at 150.50 crore nett apprx. This is the highest figure for a Rohit Shetty film beating Chennai Express and Golmaal Again.

The movie was absolutely fantastic. It had everything a cinema goer ever wants.
Most importantly it had heart. Though the movie wasn't something extraordinary but Ranveer's acting elevated the movie to the level it has reached. The dialogues were also the star but were delivered so organically that it didn't feel rehearsed.
Best end to a very good year.

Had no expectations from this movie. However decided to take a chance. Surprisingly the movie was good and entertaining. I don't mind a masala movie that is entertaining. This one is one of them! Ranveer Singh and Ashutosh Rana were great. Sara Ali Khan didn't have much to do.The only con is the music of the film...too loud for my taste. But that can pass by as the movie had a lot to offer and a good social message.

Watched it this week. Started new year with dhamaka. !!

Through and through Ranveer movie and with 2 different kind of roles this year, he is got himself wayyy too ahead in the game. I am a crazy SAK fan and I thought she has enough screen presence to eat up everyone on that department. Well that might be the case with other actors BUT even in scenes where SAK was sharing screen with RS, you just cannot move your eyes off RS. This looked like a character that can finally match up to the immense energy that RS has. The character had the cheekiness and cheesiness that I find off-screen RS too seems to have 😆. The best part was dialog delivery though. ⭐️

Ashutosh Rana - What should I say about him ? He appears in movies SO SO rare that the cravings are always there. I guess after Humpty I am seeing him in a movie. 😲 He was excellent. !!! Loved him !

SAK - Too small role too small a role 😭. I hope her next ventures are not eye-candy roles like this. Her pairing with RS looked SO organic ⭐️. Hope to see more of these 2 in future.

Rohit Shetty - 👏 I don't like Golmaal series, Rowdy Series, Singham stuffs. CE and Dilwale are the worst piece of shit I have ever involved myself into. 😡 But this movie !! It's a STANDOUT. It's SO SO well made. And some details are taken care of e.g...****** SPOILERS ***** Like the one where the whole police dept planned the fake encounter but Rana's character was left out of the planning part, that SO went well with Rana's characterization because it was given that he won't be part of it, so they had to manipulate it, or the fact that it was the brothers who did the heinous crime and got slapped by Sonu's character or Sonu's character wasn't involved in the rape, because essentially the one who has to BUILD an empire/business like he did, cannot afford to succumb to their hormonal rage like this hence was shown left out of committing the crime directly... And there are few more from director/script perspective too. 👏 Loved RS and his execution there.

Sonu Sood - He was good. But so would be any regular villain in this role. I didn't find him exceptional the way I thought RS or AR were. 😳

All in all, the movie itself is the biggest star ⭐️👏 And I cannot imagine any other actor pulling a SIMMBA like RS did. RS is a TRUE BLUE BW Star 👏

The film is rated 15+ in abroad. I feel it has dented the overseas collection as falimies with children could not watch the movie.
Even Bahubali 2 had faced the same problem. (I think there was one scene of Bahubali chopping a man's head). But Bahubali was coming in different languages. When it happened for movie in one language, they muted that scene in other languages and they got 12A certificate for them (Children can watch under adult's supervision). So families had some choice.
But Simbaa does not have that chance.

I think Rohit Shetty erred in estimating certification process abroad. (They are strict on violent scenes). For that matter most Indian movies face this problem, as they contain violence (Ghajini, Kabali). Rajini movies (or other regional movies) don't get affected much. People somehow make it a point to watch the movie by going separately.

But Hindi movies don't have such dedicated fans. If the family cannot watch together in theatre, they will wait for Netflix. Hopefully people like Rohit Shetty who targets children and families should take a note of this.

Simmba is a Blockbuster

Simmba has emerged a BLOCKBUSTER and the third biggest HIT of 2018 as it has grossed a huge 9-9.50 crore nett apprx on Friday. The drop is just 20% from Thursday and now there is no stopping this film. Mumbai, Delhi / UP, Central India and East India are all excellent on the second Friday while South is not as good as the rest but still done good numbers.

The two bigger HITS of 2018 are Sanju and Padmaavat which means Ranveer Singh has two of the three biggest BLOCKBUSTERS of 2018 while Ranbir Kapoor has the biggest. Its the first time that the Khans are nowhere to be seen among the top films since 1992 but one point to note is that the three biggest HITS are also from the three biggest directors (Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Rohit Shetty) in the Hindi film industry today.

The eight day total is around 160 crore nett and it will be third highest grosser of 2018 within ten days as it will gross the 186 crore nett of 2.0 (Hindi) before the second weekend is out.

2018Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Asees Kaur and Tanishk Bagchi: Tere Bin (Video short)
2018Neha Kakkar, Mika Singh & Kumar Sanu: Aankh Marey (Video short)
2017 Golmaal Again 205 cr -Blockbuster
2016Ranveer Ching Returns (Video short)
*last Xmas release*
2015 Dilwale 140 cr Semi Hit *Average would be right ..but hey..inflated ..tag
2014 Singham Returns 141 cr-Super Hit
2013 Chennai Express approx.220 cr-Blockbuster
2012 Bol Bachchan approx. 100 cr-Hit
***2011Singham 98 cr -Super Hit
2010 Golmaal 3 108 cr- Blockbuster
2009 All the Best: Fun Begins 42 cr- Average
2008 Golmaal Returns 52 cr -Hit
2008/I Sunday 20 cr -Flop
*** 2006Golmaal:Fun Unlimited 29 cr -SemiHit
2003 Zameen 11 cr- Below Average

Made this for everyone to see.
Yes Rohit Shetty HAS a lot of hits and successes but he also has average or so-so movies.. and even flops.
- His first in a franchise for Golmaal and Singham earned INSIGNIFICANT-MUCH SMALLER NUMBERS.
-In fact his latest franchise, SIMMBA will surpass anything he has done up till now, with BIG superstars. Already at 150, predicted to hit 230-250 cr.. .it is predicted to become R. Shetty's biggest movie and it is a NEW franchise with aYOUNG actor.
-His latest hit from the Golmaal series.. has 205 cr lifetime. SIMMBA is predicted to be past it by weekend. In 10 days!!
-His latest Xmas release, Dilwale, was (it is said) average with just 140 cr in a huge budget.. but somehow got the semi hit tag.
-Singham franchise started on 98 cr.. Golmaal on 30 cr.

** I am pointing out that SIMMBA is a BIG hit not only for Ranveer Singh but also for Rohit Shetty. a BLOCKBUSTER with a young actor, at a START of a franchise, with only Ranveer carrying the movie ( no multi star cast).

RE: SLB:(another one credited by naysayers as the 'master' of Ranveer's successs) his latest success was in 2002... then he started having hits 11 years later with Ranveer and Deepika in 2013's Ram Leela, 2015's Bajirao Mastani.. and the biggest, in the 2018's Padmaavat.. where EVERYONE stated KHILJI stole the show.

** All in all, Ranveer has shown he can do smaller movies like BBB, Lootera, Gunday, DDD... and bigger ones, like the ones above.

Ranveer's next, Gully Boy, will be a smaller budget movie about the Mumbai rap scene . OF COURSE we all(some ) wish him good numbers but you cannot expect huge numbers for a niche type movie.

Some families brought thr 5-6 year olds to the theatre, and they kept on asking their parents " what are they doing to the girl during the rape scene. I'm so glad they didnt show much of it but still I wanted to tell those parents off, atleast find out what the movie is about before bringing kids.

Watched it tonight! Honestly, it's over-rated. And Ranveer totally over-acted in the first-half. Some scenes were cringe-worthy and pretty lame especially the beginning scene where he is dealing with the thieves. So over the top. I was very pumped up for the movie after reading the reviews, that it literally shocked me to see such cringe-worthy acting. I found it worse than SRK's in CE. Anyhow, he was much better as the movie started moving towards it's second half. Comedy was so so. Second half was better than first half. I couldn't help but laugh in some intense scenes because it looked overly melodramatic and i don't know if unnecessarily. But then i kept reminding myself that it's a masala entertainer.
I guess masala genre is not for me esp. Rohit shetty type. The only one i enjoyed was CE.
Although Ranveer is pretty OTT, expected from a RS movie. I don't blame him. He still carried the whole movie on his shoulders pretty much. Sara was barely there.

I really hope to see another movie on this subject but with a more realistic approach and hard-hitting, instead of infusing few emotional dialogues and focusing on the revenge part.

Overall, very average movie imo unlike the popular opinion. No wow factor, as i was expecting.

Simmba Review

I watched Simmba for my Idol Ajay Devgn's special apperence (#AjayDevgnFan) but the film was an excellent entertainer After watching Simmba, it makes me realise that Rohit Shetty is like the modern day version of Manmohan Desai because he's too smart to know his mass audiences. He gives this film that cinematic feel and directs it very well with mass action and comedy.

Here he makes Ranveer Singh standout very well as cop. It's storytelling is good but the characterisation for Ranveer Singh is superb who goes from bootlicking these baddies to a real hero as he comes to his senses.

Now this movie a got a good message regarding a rape issue so I think Rohit Shetty is genius giving it importance. Just watch the court scene and you will understand.

Climax is fantastic where Ajay Devgn shows up with his intro as Singham. It's great seeing him fight Sonu Sood in the ending.

Performances

I'm not a fan of Ranveer Singh but he was excellent in his cop role. His comic timing is good but the bulid up towards character is directed very well.

Ya, Iove Sonu Sood in Simmba and I'm glad he was casted because he nailed it as the baddie.

What to say about Sara? It felt like i was watching Sonakshi Sinha 2.0. She's hardly in the film.

Ajay Devgn is superb as Singham in his special appearence. He's the reason why I watched this film because I knew Rohit Shetty would have something up sleave. You can never go wrong with this deadly combo.

Aala Re Aala SINGHAM AND SIMMBA Aala
