How come KARTHIK ARYAN became so popular ALL OF A SUDDEN?

I think Kartik finally got the media attention that he deserved. I liked his acting in both Pyaar Ka Punchnama movies, but back then he was not really noticed by many directors. Then he came with his breakthrough performance in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, if I liked anything about this movie, then it has to be his acting rather than the entire storyline.

His monologue from the first PKP was better than anything his seen in some time. This boy deserved best debut or best actor for that.

as JB said SKTKS was the first small medium film ever to gross over 100 crores with such an relatively unknown cast. While Kartik always had a youth especially girls, internet based and college going kids following. In fact I was introduced to him by my sister who recommend to watch PKP 1 and 2, and also Akash-Vaani.
But SKSKT was like a kick in the face of the BW biggies, who never thought that such a small movie would break the box office. It shocked everyone, and Kartik was the face of the movie.

Had it been a normal year, the hype would have been even greater tbh, but this year we saw other small/medium budget movies like Raazi, Stree, Andhadhun and Badhai Ho doing surprisingly well, hence SKTKS's achievement doesn't seem that much, but let's be honest, its performance is the most surprising this year given that movie unlike the other four didn't had stars popular stars recognized by BW. Raazi toh had the biggie Aloo, Stree had Shraddha while Raj(who while not as a big star as either Aloo or Shraddha, is still a popular name/face which even many casual BW crowd know about), while Andhadhun&Badhai Ho had Ayushmann who is also a popular face among casual BW goer.

So basically Kartik is the face of the most shocking hit of the year, hence his popularity sky rocketed.

I liked him in PKP 2 and found him underrated but now he's entering the RK territory where he is becoming annoying and trying to play ladies man stereotype. Sunny Nijjar and the third guy in PKP 2 were much better in that movie.

Don't know. Probably came into KJo's attention at some point 😆
