nobody gives 2 shits about tv premieres its all about theatrical revenue, box office what the movie does after is irrelevant

How many people in India even have subscription to Prime and Netflix??? Those sites are still struggling to penetrate in the Indian market. You expect people in the country to pay 299 and 650 respectively to watch hindi movies which they can watch on TV easily for a miniscule amount?
Satelite TV is as big a part as much as theatricals. So many films nowadays already make profit even before release through just satellite rights...TV has a far bigger reach than theatrical so TV ratings is equally important for the business and popularity of films. Otherwise TV channels aren't idiots who spend so much buying a film for it's premiere.

I sometimes really don't get the excuses people make to defend a film when it has clearly flopped in it's TV viewing compared to it's theatrical business.

That is why TV channels spend more than 70 crores buying these movies like Sanju and Padmaavat and advertisers again pay equally or more in crores to the channels to come as main sponsors for the premieres. 😆
You're clearly living in a different world altogether or have no clue how TV business works if you think TV ratings are not significant anymore and streaming sites like Netflix and Prime have made TV obsolete. Please wake up and smell the coffee.

I think Netflix and Amazon excuses don't really buy well.
Because not even 0.5 per cent of Indian households have them, while nearly half of them have television.
Plus Bahubaali, Sultan, TZH, Judwa 2, Dangal and Golmaal has shown that movies can be both hits in tv and theaters.
It is just that some movies only look good in cinema hall.
Padmavat not doing well in television is understandable, as SLB movies don't really age well.
But Sanju, a Hirani movie, that too with a comedy trailer and Sanju Baba story not doing up to the mark is a disappointment.

^ I feel that's because of wrong timing. As far as I remember,it premiered during Navratri...everyone is busy with festivities and family...people hardly watch TV during festivals...

Do you think the time elapsed between theatrical release and TV premiere has a role to play (excluding Baahubali from this conversation) because Padmaavat premiered 9 months after its theatrical release. But yes I do agree that SLB's movies are not well suited for TV nor do they age that well, being a Deepveer fan I can watch their films repeatedly but that does not apply to neutrals.

it was during lunch time though.
and that is an ideal time for family to sit together and watch movie.
Plus Navratri isn't exactly a pan India celebration.
But Sanju has chance to gain later on.

The most surprising of all is Raazi. Why has it still not premiered on TV? Have the rights been bought? Its almost year end.

Probably Star Plus then.😆 Or maybe the audience for Sanju already watched in theatres and the rest don't care.
