hirani shud hav been clear from the start that this wasnt going to be a completely honest biopic of sanjay dutt, but hirani kept saying he did no whietwashing and that its his complete true story, and that is wat people hav a problem with, yes it had many parts which did happen in sanjay dutts life, but the way hirani presented those scenes, it was depicted it in such way that we felt bad for sanjay dutt, and then all the music and comedy was added, it started to look more fictional than factual, this is why friends shudn't make biopics, its not going to be completely honest

the film was mainly made as an entertainer to make big money at the box office, tbh i wud hav liked to hav seen a true biopic of sanjay dutt, to see the real man without music and comedy

that slap that slb got was coz people throught he put in a dream sequence with padmavat and khilji, slb never shot for a dream sequence, so wat those people did was wrong

and i dont think he butchered history watching the film, it was more or less how the story of padmavat was, yes slb takes creative liberties and he says that even before he starts filming, we know he is gonna add songs and stuff like that, i guess thats why slb does historicals, coz there isn't much photographic or video evidence to prove wat actually happend

Well he had to. Sometime or the other. Hirani is too seedha saadha for Bollywood. He knows his craft and what his audience likes and expects. I genuinely believe he is an honest man and Sanju was a result of Hirani-Sanju relationship during Munnabhai. Sanju needed an image cleansing ritual post his coming out of jail and there would be no one better than his friend who knows the pulse of Indian audience. Hence the watered down version called Sanju. Hence he had to blurt out the truth.

That still doesn't make Raju less dishonest as a director. Sanju might have earned a lot but that doesn't make Sanju a good film. Biopic or not, it will remain to be one of the the most dishonest reality based films and Hirani's weakest till date both craft wise and story wise.

That's being so manipulative. First when he was showing the truth, people hated Sanjay so in order in make people like him , Hirani chose to distort the truth! What kind of man is he? Can it be called a biopic then? Why not call it fiction? Disappointed by Hirani.

What does he stand to gain by sharing all this? That he deliberately cleansed Sanjay's image and so he owes it to him forever.

Which filmmaker is going to go around saying its not honest? No one does that. Where dramatizations were made or characters were changed he admitted to that. Biopics are always biased - made with an individualistic point of view. At the end of the day its a movie not a documentary, music and comedy has to be there as this is Hirani's style of filmmaking like every director has. They are making a product which they need to sell - I don't get why everyone holds this movie to some special standard when we are routinely churning out movies on gangsters and the perpetrators of the actual bomb blast are glorified for years in movies.

I don't even get why Hirani is making these comments now that movie is out lol. Has anyone given this guy media training?😆

There is no such thing as a true biopic - it is ones point of view on what happened in their lives. That is the only truth.

I knew it was a scam from the beginning 🤢 how in movies they show some people as villlain for doing bad stuffs when in reality they are also willing to do the same for money .
