Dupahiya Review: Gajraj Rao’s Acting is Gold, But Sparsh Srivastava is Too Invested in ‘Vroom Vroom’ Goals
Gajraj Rao shines with effortless charm, while Sparsh Srivastava’s Bullet obsession turns a crime-free village into total chaos

Picture this: a sleepy little village in Bihar, untouched by crime for 25 years, on the verge of winning a borewell—yes, the ultimate jackpot of clean water. The villagers are already celebrating, dreaming of the day they won’t have to fight over muddy puddles. But, just when things seem perfect, chaos sneaks in like a nosy neighbor. And what’s the root of all this madness? A single, shiny Royal Enfield Bullet—a dowry demand that flips the whole village upside down!
A Wedding, A Dowry, and One Expensive Condition
Enter Banwari Jha (Gajraj Rao), the respected school principal, whose biggest worry isn’t keeping his students in line—it’s marrying off his daughter, Roshni (Shivani Raghuvanshi). Everything seems set for her wedding to Durlabh Tripathi, but Roshni has other plans. Why settle for the older, jobless brother when the younger sibling, Kuber, has a sarkari naukri in Mumbai? Mumbai = freedom, dreams, and most importantly, escape from her tiny village.
But Kuber, being the smart cookie he is, doesn’t agree so easily. He wants something in return—a brand-new Royal Enfield Bullet! Because what’s a groom without a bike that screams "power, masculinity, and ultimate swag"?
A Village’s Most Prized Possession…Gone!
After much struggle (and selling their beloved cow), the Jha family finally secures the holy grail—the Dupahiya. The entire village gawks at the Bullet like it’s a Bollywood celebrity making an entry. It gleams, it shines, and for a brief moment, everything seems perfect.
But then… BAM! The bike disappears. Stolen. Poof. Gone faster than gossip spreads between our mother and maasi.
Here’s where things get juicy. Bhugol (Sparsh Srivastava), Roshni’s brother and a self-proclaimed social media sensation, had been staging a fake robbery for reel content—only for a real thief to swoop in and steal the actual bike! Now, the village is faced with a dilemma: report the crime and lose their borewell reward or cover up the theft and descend into madness.
Enter the Ex and the Inspector
In a bid to save themselves, Bhugol points fingers at Amavas (Bhuvan Arora), the village’s former troublemaker and, oh yes, Roshni’s ex-boyfriend. Cue the drama. Sparks fly, old feelings resurface, and now Roshni is caught between a stolen bike and a stolen heart. Meanwhile, Inspector Mithilesh Kushwaha (Yashpal Sharma) is living for this mess, ready to register an FIR and destroy the village’s precious crime-free record.
Laugh Riot Meets Social Commentary
From Bhugol’s ridiculous attempts at TikTok fame to a Launda Naach sequence that has the whole village dancing their insecurities away, Dupahiya is a rollercoaster of laughter, emotions, and subtle jabs at societal norms. The script (by Avinash Dwivedi, Chirag Garg, and team) balances humor with reality—dowry, class struggles, beauty standards—all wrapped up in a story that’s as hilarious as it is thought-provoking. With Renuka Shahane as the fiery ward member Pushplata, Sparsh Srivastava’s magnetic chaos, and Gajraj Rao’s effortless comedic timing, Dupahiya is not just a must-watch—it’s a must-experience.
Final Verdict
If Panchayat and Priyadarshan had a mischievous love child, it would be Dupahiya. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and an absolute gem of a show. Buckle up, because this dowry bike is about to take you on one wild ride! Streaming on Amazon Prime Video, this nine-episode series is the perfect blend of humor, emotions, and unexpected twists—because who knew a missing two-wheeler could cause such dhamaka?
