Ishan & Janhvi are better actors than sooo many guys and girls. I'm sure they'll get something great.

I thought a lot about sharing this because it's a bit personal and a precious memory of mine, I couldn't stop sharing this despite the fear of sounding repetitive. The reason why I keep talking about the second half again and again here. This contains spoilers from the film.
SPOILERS BELOW.

I think the reason why the second half of Dhadak in Calcutta still stays with me is because of the relatability factor and subconsciously being a part of the mileu the second half of the film is set in. My parents had a love marriage and weren't accepted at my dad's home because of differences(they still haven't told what what was is about) and they had to step out of their comfortable homes and build a new life from scratch. My dad and mom were a probably a year or two older than Madhu and Parthavy when they got married. They started their new life in a similar house as shown in the film- doing everything from scratch-the dusting to cooking. I too was born there with our landlords being as happy and helpful as Bhowmick Da and his wife who are now like family to us.
I've grown up seeing my mom and dad working their ass off for providing a comfortable life for me in similar conditions that were shown in the film. I have memories of my mom telling stories about the kachre ka dabba that their first house was and how she used to suffer at home when my dad way away at office because of the old house, dirt and insects. I still have albums of my parents in that same old house where my mom is wearing similar nighties worn by Parthavi in the film against the dusty background of their first house in the colony with that one small bed, gas stove, small steel almirah all stuffed in that one little room of theirs in Calcutta.
And I think this is why I loved the second half SO much in this version because of how much I could relate to the environment set up in the second half in Calcutta through the Vaara Re sequence even though I have no memory of my growing up there. It's all in the stories I've been told by my parents about their struggles and their old photos present in albums.
And I guess that is why I think I was so affected by the climax. I've thankfully lived and so has my parents since it wasn't as bad as shown in the first half of the film and all problems have been resolved and I'm now old enough to start my own family in my comfortable home that my parents have brought up and then when you see this whole journey of living their new life of highs and lows and creating beautiful memories as a family suddenly taken away from Madhu and Parthavy for no fault of theirs, it definitely hits you hard.

He is very, very charming both on and off screen.

Well it's about time Actors don't debut with such kind of films. As long as he does quality movies, he'll be fine.

Dhadak On Course To Emerge A HIT
Monday 23 July 2018 11.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network

Dhadak has done good business over its first weekend by collecting 33 crore nett which is the highest weekend total for a newcomer film although there has been no newcomer film for a few years. The trend of the film is strong with solid growth on Saturday and Sunday.

The Sunday growth probably puts the film on course to be a HIT film although it will be th Monday numbers that confirm this. It jumpred close to 30% which is excellent for a Sunday and more than its Saturday growth which means it is doing well all over.

The collections in Punjab and Delhi city are lower but have showed growth over the weekend and should hold well enough. The best markets for the film are Nizam / Andhra, Rajasthan, CP Berar, CI, Bihar and Gujarat. The first weekend collections of the film are below.

Friday - 8,50,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 10,75,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 13,75,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 33,00,00,000 apprx

The film has also done pretty well Overseas with collections of $1.2 million in 3 days with Gulf and US / Canada both giving a contribution of $400k each. The collections are so so for a 40 crore plus film but considering it had no face value then the total is a healthy total.

This gives the film a worldwide total of 51 crore apprx. The comparative figure for Student Of The year was 40 crore while Heropanti was 30.50 crore apprx but that was lower costing film.

@Sridevifanforever - absolutely love your posts⭐️⭐️

I do like Ishaan, he is confident, self assured, a terrific dancer and handles onscreen and offscreen challenges like a pro. He is actually fantastic for his age and his acting was probably the best from any newcomer after Ranveer in BBB.
It may sound a little shallow if I say this, but I want him to look better. 😕 Thats the only hiccup. Otherwise he has everything going for himself. Maybe he will age well.

Jhanvi though has my heart, which is saying a lot, because I used to find her cringeworthy, before she started shooting for Dhadak. Her and Khushi gave me serious wannabe blonde girls vibe and looked like desi Kardashians and I did not particularly find her pretty to look at either. But when they released the first poster of Dhadak, her eyes spoke volumes in the poster itself and the way she has conducted herself in the IVs, she was everything I dint imagine her to be - poised, mature, sincere, straight from the heart and down to earth. There is a certain innocence in her which is very adorable.

At the same time, she very convincingly portrayed the arc of Parthvi and I think its a dream debut to get such a character as a debut. The ending still refuses to leave me..It was just so heartwrenching and brutal..and despite Ishaan being the better actor, JK owned the movie just with her acting in that scene for me, - SO heartbreaking!
