IMO Ranbir Kapoor did a better job, when comparing the two.
Because Ranveer had the creative license, Ranbir had a limited scope because he was aping an alive and kicking person.
And despite that hurdle, Ranbir came out in flying colour.

Ranveer Singh did not ape Sanjay Dutt when he came to Bigg Boss, he aped his character Raghu in Vaastav, he said that he has watched Vaastav around 30 times, and also said that Sanjay Dutt inspired him to be an actor.

THIS!!..it is so difficult to ape a living person and do it in a way so that it doesn't appear mimicry...and that is why Biru is a better actor by miles...I have heard from so many people that where was Ranbir Kapoor in Sanju...now one can't get a better complement than this👏
