Aamir was the main selling point for 3 idiots and especially PK. Aamir had a craze like no other in 2008 when he broke all records with Ghajini. ofcourse everyone was looking forward to 3 idiots because of him in 2009.

When a film becomes an ATBB, the credit never solely rests on one single person. 3 Idiots is a classic with amazing recall value. To credit it solely to Brand Hirani or Aamir is stupid. Hirani has delivered great films before 3 Idiots and Aamir has delivered great films both pre and post 3 Idiots. The movie had everything going for it including the fact that it had the most relatable message possible so it's not surprising it did well. PK on the other hand was relatively mediocre yet managed to do well because of the feel good factor. What Hirani and Aamir have is credibility. We can go on and on about Aamir not having a fan base yet at the end of the day, he has more credibility than most mainstream heroes put together. Simply because people believe he will do good films 9 out of 10 times. So you have people who are not fans, who are not movie buffs, who don't care for any star watching his films and that's exactly why they do well. But then again what more can you expect from a site which bashes a classic like DCH 😆
