Are some of these back and forth part of promoting Dhadak? Probably. There is probably also some degree of regret and guilt for not always having a relationship with Khushi and Jhanvi. But I think his affection and love for them is genuine and sincere now. So is this protectivness that he shows Jhanvi with regard to media and tabloids.

Why now? You said it yourself when she was alive... he barely acknowledged her. He clearly disliked her for something his father had a hand in as well.

It's not the same thing, but it kind of reminds me of how SK after doing all the deeds, turned over a new lead. lol

If it's the case, it's not admirable but being cunning.

It's because of his behavior. His consistent behavior since Sridevi's death. He is a guy who has spoken about them in interviews and said at one point they don't exist for me. In many ways he was justified to feel that way. His father cheated on his mom, he was never part of the happy family tableau the foursome of Boney, Sridevi, Jhanvi and khushi presented. It's like Arjun and his sister did not even exist as part of that family. In the USA even if the parents divorce and the father cheated, the kids do go and visit him regularly, If he marries again and there are children born to that marriage, they become a blended family. It is not easy but many families do have bonds. We have heard they took vacations together, but obviously not a cordial relationship. Boney's brothers have openly stood for Arjun and Anshula as a father figure.

In that scenario, when Sridevi died what did Arjun do ? Flew in from shooting. Stood for his father when he needed support. Carried Sridevi's body, the body of a woman who was cause of so much heart break to his own mom. You can say he did it for the cameras. But he is there in pretty much every frame even when the camera was not supposed to be there like at the funeral ground. The pure human compassion he and Anshula showed for their half sisters who are walking the same path ironically like them is what I like about them.

No one can understand in the Kapoor family like these two what it means to lose a mother. No one other than Arjun can understand losing a mother just before debut like Jhanvi did because they both are walking the exact same path. So his support for her despite the past and her bonding. How she speaks of him, the smile on her face, the words she uses, the bonding in pictures. Well, if that is fake and brother and sister are milking it for all it's worth, they are better actors than I give them credit for. In fact I have criticized them both rather badly for their acting. So I think I can smell fake or putting on a show if I see one. I really don't have that high regard for their acting.

A lot of things in BW are fake. Ask me to talk about KJO and his fake ness and I will write an essay. But this somehow seems real to me. A true human moment in which tragedy united a broken family, where siblings who should hate each other instead bonded, the love between them, of a father who was not the greatest but has managed to have the best kids in that family. Great upbringing. If all that is fake, give them an Oscar for I for one completely believe them.

Kinda answered you at the same time above.

I don't get the genuine vibe. But they would know better.

New set of interviews of Janhvi and another one with the whole cast. These ones are in English and pretty similar to her hindi interview. All uploaded on India Today's website so can't embed them.

First Video- Exclusive: Janhvi Kapoor in Dhadak and Sridevi in English Vinglish have something in common

Second Video-Dhadak actress Janhvi Kapoor: I want people to love me

Third Video- Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter on Dhadak title track, fun moments from the shoot

Why not? Grief brings people closer. It's a reality check, and reminds you that at the end of the day, family is family. Also, Arjun has also lost his mother, before his debut film. I'm sure he connected to Janhvi on that level as well.

Even if Arjun faked it...you need A LOT of strength to even do that. I dont think I would be able to do what he has done if I was in his shoes.

In this mess - its Arjun, Ansuhla, Janvhi and Khushi who have come out as superior human beings with their maturity intact.

I'm not saying they haven't been mature (I think they seem more mature than Anil's kids) and it's possible they bonded over the fact that both lost their mothers before their releases or simply the fact they did. I'm aware of that sometimes in families kids do not come between adults' politics. And in some families ... adults' politics tends to distance cousins ... That all aside, I would still not put Arjun on a pedestal. That's all.

He doesn't need to be on a pedestal

But with Arjun...I cant imagine how hard it must be ...to be a BROTHER to the children of his father's affair. Children of the woman his father cheated on his own mother with. This is not something that is easy...I am not saying he should get a Padmasree for it...but I think we must recognize it for what its worth. In a world where families are joining in and promoting fake PR relationships...we have this kind of example set.

I feel like it might be a lot due to the fact that Sri is no more and he might not be harboring that resentment with her children. At the end of the day, they are his siblings.
But who knows, as you said, he must have gone through some complex feelings and emotions. Who are we to judge?

That's a romantic thought. Have also seen grief distancing families. Depends on the grief and people.
