Now I see why NRIs were having apoplectic fits on that Quantico episode. If foreigners from similar cultural background think what is shown in fictional movies about India is true then just imagine what a person from a non sub continent origin would think.
What VDW and Lust Stories are trying to portray is lack of sexual freedom for women in India and maybe the entire sub-continent. But they are fictional movies/shows and hence are exaggerated and may not depict reality. In reality I have never heard of such a reason for divorce in India.

^^Its shocking how many straight men have sex with men!! And as I read on Tumblr: "Homophobia is fear that gay men will treat straight men, the way straight men treat women." 👏

To be honest, any man who has sex with other men is not straight. He is either gay or bisexual. He claims to be straight because he is afraid of the label.

In an ideal world, we would rid ourselves of labels and just be humans who enjoy sex and form emotional bonds with other people. Labels complicate things.

Sidebar: Who do so many couples want bisexuals to be their unicorns?

OT - I think it depends on the type of men mostly. When we were in college, all my friends knew who was doing what and shit - I mean women used to borrow their guy friends' movie collections! I watched my first "sexual movie with my boyfriend/now-husband and he was the one who put it on. But yeah, men in India, in general, believe in the theory that women are passive partners in sex, so what does it even matter if they gain pleasure or not. Added to this is the fact that women are harder and please and a lot of these men are, forgive my crass language, "two pump chumps. Thankfully I found the right guy but I can why people would find masturbation as a cause of discord - these are people who think that a woman's biggest asset is her vagina, her purity is wound in her hymen and that our "culture is a rich amalgam of all things patriarchal!

^^Absolutely true!!! This is why it is so scary.

Hadey: Could be, but I do know of men who have had swx with men & after that only had relationships with women. Or expwrimented more & then realised women are what their natural inclination is. It does happen

In my personal opinion, things like this are reasons that cause bisexual erasure. I understand that people experience curiosity. They experiment with another gender and realize they have a preference.

But that curiosity isn't universal. Not everyone will experience it. It takes not just an open mind but an innate reaction from the body as well that they can enjoy the body of a person of the same gender. And it takes a lot more for men to experiment because male sexuality is not as fluid as female sexuality. Also, Even bisexuals and pansexuals have a preference. They will tend to date more people of a certain gender or orgasm more with a certain gender.

I can forgive the people who maybe had one or two experiments and then decided it wasn't their cup of tea. What bothers me is when people have genuine relationships but then brush it off as experiments. People who know they could have relationships with either gender in the future but dismiss it. And it is not just heterosexual men. Heterosexual women, as well as gay men and women, do this. Gay people also completely dismiss fulfilling relationships with the opposite gender as just a phase or them trying to conform to society.

It is a vicious cycle. People do this because bisexuals have a bad reputation as being fickle and indecisive or the misconception that bisexuals don't really exist. Admitting that you're bisexual somehow dilutes your current relationship so people deny it. It further feeds the cycle of bisexual erasure.

^^Well yes that is absolutely true. I too feel the same but since they, the people, tell me this I respect their wishes. There is. A lot of bisexual erasure even within the gay community where gay men & women refuse to believe bisexuality, ESP male bisexuality, does not exist. Truly sad.
