In my personal opinion, things like this are reasons that cause bisexual erasure. I understand that people experience curiosity. They experiment with another gender and realize they have a preference.
But that curiosity isn't universal. Not everyone will experience it. It takes not just an open mind but an innate reaction from the body as well that they can enjoy the body of a person of the same gender. And it takes a lot more for men to experiment because male sexuality is not as fluid as female sexuality. Also, Even bisexuals and pansexuals have a preference. They will tend to date more people of a certain gender or orgasm more with a certain gender.
I can forgive the people who maybe had one or two experiments and then decided it wasn't their cup of tea. What bothers me is when people have genuine relationships but then brush it off as experiments. People who know they could have relationships with either gender in the future but dismiss it. And it is not just heterosexual men. Heterosexual women, as well as gay men and women, do this. Gay people also completely dismiss fulfilling relationships with the opposite gender as just a phase or them trying to conform to society.
It is a vicious cycle. People do this because bisexuals have a bad reputation as being fickle and indecisive or the misconception that bisexuals don't really exist. Admitting that you're bisexual somehow dilutes your current relationship so people deny it. It further feeds the cycle of bisexual erasure.
