Veere Di Wedding is looking to be the surprise of 2018 as far as the initial is concerned. There was Baaghi 2 which did 25 crore nett on day one but still that can always be a possibilty with a big action film and this film Veere Di Wedding is flirting with a double digit opening which is no doubt the surprise of the year and far more than anyone could have expected. It can become the first female led film to hit 10 crore nett and if it falls short it will be by a minimal amount.


The urban youth has come for the film in a big way with metros and their satellite towns recording huge numbers especially Delhi NCR. The film started well and is pushing on. It will beat the opening day collections of all films which do not have a major male lead be it Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Mary Kom or Raazi unless something very drastic happens to the evening collections.


The collections of Delhi NCR which is Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad may hit 2.50 crore as the first three mentioned are extraordinary and behaving like a 15 crore nett opener. The doubt will be there going forward as obviously the concept of women mouthing expletives has got the urban youth in the theaters but for a film to be appreciated it needs more that that. Commercially speaking the job is done with this good opening.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Sonam and Rhea, Shikha, Swara and also Kareena.

This is a great news. I really hope this film becomes highest grosser of the year. It is great to see audience accepting more female oriented films. This is indeed going to be big achievement for Sonam and Kareena.
