Devdas was a huge hit back then, it might have lesser footfalls then Padmavat but then SLB Didn't use rightwingers or polarised his audience like he did with the latter. Though in terms of being true to the book both fims sucked time.

Cant believe some people here are comparing a huge hit Devdas to a disaster like BV ofcourse it earned more and yes it earned more then a few niche hits of some actors of recent time if one really wants to compare. Idiotic comparisons are a norm here now.

yes Devdas was a huge hit but Padmavat is a bigger hit. If Padmavat had a huge controversy favoring it, it also had losses because of its business being closed in some states. But bottomline is Padmavat is a biggest hit of almost everyone involved in that movie including SLB.
And we cannot overlook that SLB was almost a goner before he got Deepika-Ranveer pair.

And there is no comparison of BV with Devdas, it was just a mere joke as main point was MoonOrchid taking box office collection on face value and saying SLB never had a huge hit as Devdas/HDDCS never earned 100crores, while RL did.

Who's denying Padmavat is SLB's biggest hit? Yes SLB was a goner after guzaarish and he had to reinvent himself with Ramleela with 2 young actors at that time. But one member tried to discredit SLB by saying he'll go back to his flop phase if he doesn't take deepika and ranveer in his next lol as if SLB never had any hits or success before.

And yes that bv vs devdas comparison joke or not was illogical.

Excuses, excuses.

Fact is, PV is a hit and has crossed 300 cr. Fact is, RS and DP have made SLB successful again.

The comparison was between Devdas and RL and BV and MEA...and afterwards between 2002 Devdas and 2013/2015 movies RL and BV..as a 10 year gap.

Yeah we take BO office at face value..cause we never see older movies topping the BO list, do we?

Why would we only change Devdas BO..let's change all BO of all older movies..

The BO shows recent movies at the top, so there's no point going about face value of older movies anyway..we do not know if Devdas from 2002 -or other movie- would be a hit or a flop today..it's all in the realm of 'what if'..on 'maybe' audience would accept it or not..
