Varun sadly gets caught in this cross fire😆, due that "SOTY Kid" stamp, and the fact that the other 2 students (Sid-Alia) are mostly doing Dharma films it tends to give out the impression that Varun is doing the same when in reality he has done just 3 films with them
unlike say a Ranbir or Alia who got Yrf or the most acclaimed award winning directors despite a Disastrous debut, it took him 9 (Successful) films to get a credible director like Shoojit, he went out of his way to work with him.

YRF also gives quite a few films to their prodigees(Ranveer, Pari, Anushka, Vaani, Arjun) even when 80% of arent Hits.

No matter what ppl say I still believe its only after he proved his worth, Kjo has given Varun Big projects like Kalank & Rannbhoomi, he doesnt seem genuinely close to VD IMO

The fact is Varun & Alia has successful films mainly whereas those YRF bunch are overlooked for 2 reasons they are termed 'outsiders' and 'talented'. Latter is a subjective opinion. Former never makes sense. And no Ayushman is not backed by YRF.

Also a grounded insider like Varun is always better than a cocky outsider Sushant

Post debut Varun has done 2 films with Dharma

Humpty which was a major Hit despite being a Ramazan release,

Badri which was a 100Cr Superhit, earned more than Kjo's own directorial😆 why the hell will he not cast him again?, besides Shashank was only a debutant when VD started off with him, its not like Kjo was getting best of directors & creating projects exclusively for him like he does for others.

I think the flak KJo gets is for the movie SOTY.

SOTY made me gag. I was convinced all three of them were talentless hacks. Alia seemed like a dumb bimbo living on the Bhatt name. It was the script. The story. Everything about SOTY was shitty B grade stuff.

Outside of SOTY, I am glad Alia is making films. She has been one who surprised me the most.

Kuch bhi y 😆 yah Pari has a high percentage but her career is in the gutter

Also Shraddha Kapoor has worked with many different production houses and has the same number of "clean proper hits as Alia Bhatt. Her acting sucks too though

I think Alia is alright but the biggest hate is due to nepotism. If Alia wasn't doing so many Kjo films and branched out more, she could really prove herself. Or if she wasn't getting films on Kjo's recommendations...

As for Varun, October looks interesting and I thought Badlapur was pretty good for him. And to be fair, both Varun and Alia don't really have the star look to them so why Kjo launched them besides their family name is beyond me?

My last point is, these two are so lucky to have their backing. Yes, I am sure everyone would want to get a great, easy job like them and have the support like them. But their acting was so bleh in SOTY. Consider if they were outsiders I doubt they would ever get a second chance or even a big banner film.

I don't think the problem is with Dharma giving Alia or even Varun films. I'll leave Varun out of it , while he has benefited tremendously through his background/nepotism, it is true he has tried to do it more "on his own."

Nobody complains about YRF because they don't shove their proteges down everyone's throats and AdiC does not call up people to cast his proteges and offer to produce or get them in Economic Summits or whatever. I'm pretty certain if Adi was to make a call, people would just cast YRF proteges without any bribes that KJo needs to offer.
