Raid has had a fair opening day with collections of 10 crore nett apprx as per early estimates. The film picked up well post the mornings shows to get a double digit or at least very close to double digits.
The opening of the film is very similar to Pad Man released last month but that film was on 500 screens less with 2750 screens as against the 3250 screens of Raid.
The good Saturday growth is there for the film due to the trend today and the bookings for tomorrow evening are much stronger than today but the key will Sunday growth as that will tell if the family audience has come for the film. Pad Man had shown huge Saturday growth but faltered a little on Sunday.
This should not be a problem for Raid as it has nothing in terms of content in the film where the Sunday audience decides its not for them. The film has performed reasonably well in most circuits though East Punjab, Mysore and West Bengal are on the lower side.
The opening day of the film is similar to so many Ajay Devgn films like Action Jackson, Himmatwala, Baadshaho, Raajneeti, Satyagraha, Son Of Sardaar and Shivaay all of which are in the 10 crore nett give or take 5-7%.
Baadshaho released a few months back opened to 10.10 crore nett but that film had a super hit song and more going for it in terms of an initial so had to do more. Here 10 crore nett is a better total as the potential as its more of a word of mouth and the next few days will tell what sort of appreciation Raid has from the paying public.
