Why look at hddcs.. Go back to khamoshi.. Which i think is slb's best work... So yes i agree slb can do subtlety.. Or more accurately, he could.. But not anymore... Now it's just about being color coordinating every frame rather than giving his characters any soul

And I'll disagree with ratan singh being subtle... I don't simply mean subtle as is not loud or not being noisy

I mean there are simply no layers to the characters.. Shahid aka ratan singh woukd break out in heavy duty useless dialouges about rajput shaan and shaukat without showing any intelligence as a ruler... Its just such a black and white film... He just hammers with every scene look ratan singh is good, khilji is evil.. There is no complexity to any character or relationship..

Honestly i can't imagine anyone else playing Khilji other than Ranveer.. for me, he's the ultimate Khilji!

The 2 roles that are irreplaceable for me from Padmaavat are Ranveer's Khilji & Jim's Kafur.. they totally got into the skin & depth of the characters! Rest for me are replaceable.

srk is the choice of forum...i am nor surprised. such a serious character needed a class actor not some joker making faces. anyway its ok. overall i dont dislike ranveer...his larger than life clownish persona is not bad..one should be happy and positive in life so he definitely gets my approval in that...he seems secure person.

par yeh langoroon wali harkateein kam karde bas...aur movies mein nahi.

No one plays a dark character better than Shahrukh...but not in SLB's movie.

Ranbir and Ranveer both would have killed it as Khilji too under a better director.
