Of course it will be glorifies since he is known for conquering the world. Where were these letters when Baijorao mastani glorified love affair with a second woman. That time every one was fine no one called it regressive. Because every one understood the time period the movie was made in.. So what is the issue now? Can some one explain to me as per Swara what should have Padmavati done?

BM is in fact very actual. They like to talk down about polygamy when they are into polyamorous love stories lmao

Regarding Jauhar, I think those who are calling the movie out know the difference but remember thathat just a week ago some women were threatening to commit Jauhar, remember that some women can be forced or manipulated to commit this act by taking Padmavaati as an example. Some people are guillable and others uneducated... Will They understand that this practice is from another era or just see this as something to be proud of as Rajputs? A way to grasp at a past glory ?

Agree with swara...having said that...without watching the movie also, women in Karni Sena are ready to do Jauhar...so nincompoops ka kuchh nahi hi sakta...for people who are posting the differences between sati n Jauhar staying Jauhar was a eoman's Choice...smh...I wish people would passionately teach the girls in their lives, wives daughters mothers etc that there is absolutely no need to take one's own life...for any reason whatsoever...teach them to fight back n stop being a second rate citizen

Ummm...what the? What did I just read? Sorry but, a historical film IS going to have things like jauhar included in them, it was apart of history and it will be shown.
Does she think people are going to watch the movie and do jauhar? Is she on something?

Also, why does every movie always have to validate or prove something? ITS JUST A MOVIE! It shouldnt make you feel a certain way and it certainly shouldnt make you feel like a vagina. THE MOVIE HAS NO RELEVANCE TO YOUR LIFE!

I am sorry, I am all for feminism...but it does not need to be inserted in EVERY SINGLE THING.

when I said Jauhar was a choice ...i also said it was at a time when MIGHT WAS RIGHT...and that is why I said that Jauhar shouldn't be glorified at all...but it boils down to the fact that it indeed was a choice for women at that time when there was no legal system to protect them...the women were stuck between a rock and a hard place...it was either dying in the fire or was a life where they were raped mercilessly by different men every day...no one deserves to die but no one deserves a life of a sex slave either...and if the women didn't want it ...can u blame them...

Of course in today's context something like that would be even unimaginable...of course girls should be taught to fend for themselves and protect themselves and fight for themselves but then its today's world not then.

I think her problem was not the jauhar but the way it was shot. Apparently it has heroic music in the bg.
Sadly herds of women and girls committing suicide are the climax of the film which she is against.

13rw also got bashed for romanticizing suicide.

While I agree with the opposition of romanticizing suicide, I dont think without jauhar the film would be complete.

That's the only acheivement of padmavati.

Its not like she was a 42-times undefeated warrior, or a conqueror.

How else wud he make paddu great?

For all the people saying, this is not Bhansali's fault this is the legend- he chose to make this film, didn't he? That means he felt that this fictional heroine was worthy of being venerated. It's not like he was assigned to make a film on Padmavati and this is the best he could do.
