Padmavat Heads For A Huge Number On Republic Day
Friday 26 January 2018 16.00 IST
Box Office India Trade Network

Padmaavat is heading for a huge second day where the film could go towards the 30 crore nett mark. The 25 crore nett mark will be crossed for sure on Friday. The film has the huge national holiday growth on top things are a bit calmer in places like UP and Haryana and more places are playing the film in the former.

Bangalore will have a full day today whereas yesterday it was limited so on the collections till afternoon 50% growth is certain and this could go to 60-70% which would take it near 30 crore nett. There will still be around 23-25% of the market missing on day two but that is better than the 30-32% missing on day one.

There is still a long way for the film to go due to the huge costs and it not being able to optimum business due to the bans and protests but its very much possible that the film would have notched up around 50 crore in two days plus the paid previews and with Saturday and Sunday to come.

These are good numbers and very good if we allow for the fact that the film is not playing in some states. The real value of the 50 crore is probably around 65 crore.

Am super glad that this film finally made it to the theatres and I got the opportunity to watch it but at the same time it's disappointing how the film depicted the practice of Jauhar with such inane glorification. Towards the end, I was like WHAT-IN-THE-WORLD was that whole Jhauhar scene and the voiceover after that supposed to mean 😳 That the audience should break into a huge a round of applause that the Rajput women (amongst them also was a lil girl) chose to throw themselves into fire when actually they could very well have tried to escape from the palace/sought refuge through a secret passage or something, in short they could have tried to save themselves in any which way instead of choosing such a brutal way to die 😳

Not that I did not find anything worth appreciating about the film but the ending was simply bizzare and rediculous to say the least. It had me out of my wits.

Home LIVE BOX OFFICE REPORT Padmaavat Very Strong Opening But Lagging Behind As Per Budget

Padmaavat Very Strong Opening But Lagging Behind As Per Budget

January 26, 2018

Padmaavat had strong First Day at Box Office. Though it collects just above 18 Cr net range but it shouldn't be seen in that way. Padmaavat was a quarter fledge release. With most of the mass circuits were unable to screen the movie. There were some Trade and Websites which is predicting 26-27 Cr net range if Full Fledge release would have happened. This is completely rubbish. Padmaavat was not released in most of the Mass Centres and the hype was maximum there only. It lost almost 10-12 cr from this region itself. In fact hype is so huge that it could have opened anything, no limit was there in those places. Alos, the places which have opened it opens with fear, such as Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad or even West Bengal too. This places already have excellent numbers it could have add further more or to say loss of 3-5 cr at least. Overall Padmaavat lost 10-15 Cr at least as we said we don't know what would have been the outcome if those protest area was not shut down or no fear situation because hype and buzz was maximum in those places rather than Mumbai, Kolkata or Hyderabad.

Star Cast Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh

I know it is unbelievable and incomprehensible from where we stand today, but I believe these unfortunate things DID happen in those times...They used to jump in fire so that the soldiers wont even be able to touch their dead bodies otherwise even their dead bodies used to be raped and dishonored, I believe!

But I hope SLB explained all this in the voiceover instead of making it look like the women died because they didn't want to live with their men being dead in the war! 😕

I loved Deepika and Aditi the most in the film. Both of them have looked so gorgeous and emoted so wonderfully through their beautiful expressive eyes. Despite of the limitations of their respective roles both stood out.

Ranveer had maginificent screen presence and did a great job as Khiji but somehow even his amazing screen presence and the histrionics of Khilji's character do not quite leave the impact as Deepika and Aditi's characters do (just my opinion)

AND I really wish the song Nainowale ne (my favourite from the album) had made it to the movie :(

All in all, keeping aside the ending, I liked the movie much more than I thought I would. Gets a bit slow at times but never boring. Worth a watch!

@bold Ikr! 😳 I agree with you. The problem isn't that they were depicting something which was relevant in the past, the problem is that they could have done the same in a much more responsible manner.

We are watching it today...Prepared for all the goriness and supposed tragic ending but hoping the constant bhajan of Rajputi valor wont annoy the heck out of us...😆 *fingers crossed*
* I am dragging two other friends with me and praying that they wont murder me by the end of the movie*😆

It is a story based on a fictional poem which is years old and this was practice was followed then since the women back then only had this choice to save themselves from getting raped/ being taken as slaves by the winning army.

The film being based on the poem shows what is written in it. It does not mean it is glorifying it. I dont think the women had any other way to save themselves so they chose this rather than be stripped of their pride and honor.

it is bizzare to people now since we no longer face such situations and we have other options but back then this was the only option.
