1. If a man said this about a woman, then yes it would be demeaning. That's because there is gender inequality throughout the world. Please learn about how patriarchy works. 😕

Another feminism bashing thread on Bollywood forum.. why am I not surprised 😆 Wake me up the day people get so angry and outraged at women being raped as they are at few untrue rape allegations
Wake me up the day people stop finding faults in women but write pages after pages bashing feminism and women
Media supports women? Boo hoo... men get support by default in the society. in my town a girl was gang raped and people were siding with the guysOriginally posted by: CrystalFatima
And Wat makes you think people dont outrage on that? The difference is unlike internet feminists, there are people who outrage against crimes against ALL genders. Not just their own. That is Real Gender Equality. And wat do u mean by "few untrue rape allegations"? Justice is not based on Statistics. Even if One citizen is in facing injustice, he or she does not deserve it.And look around, there are lot of pages, blogs, commission, laws, social bias, media that support a woman - even if she is evidently wrong. Nobody speaks for other genders. So, please cut the crap.
Is that stupid female character Khushi kumari Gupta from ipkknd? I remember you once mentioned it on a thread 😆Originally posted by: mysterious_rain
I agree with you now a days feminism is not about getting equal rights but to compete with men. They are version of MCP's, I had this long debate over a female fictonal character whom I thought was stupid. Some of them said I was anti feminist because I was not supporting the annoying female character. This happens a lot on Indian tv where men characters are not allowed to get angry at the female character if she hides or does anything stupid.

There are so many issues being conflated in this thread. Several points are contradictory as well. It is almost as if "context" has been erased out of the dictionary.
1) Issue 1.As many have pointed out, morality and feminism are two different things.Feminism is equality of genders.Morality is the sense of right and wrong. There are some things that will always be immoral such as lying, deception, and cheating. Conservative values will view smoking or drinking to be vices.Human nature is not perfect. Our moral compass wavers now and then. We all have vices. We all lie or deceive sometimes. However, societal perception of these flaws varies based on gender. Men are allowed to have vices, women aren't. Cheating or pre-marital sex is grey for men but unpardonable for women.Since feminism is about gender equality, it tries to establish that all humans are equally grey and imperfect. All humans have the propensity to do wrong or right. Women can have vices and men can be virtuous. Vices must be equally acceptable for both genders. Standards of chastity, morality, and fidelity must be equal for both genders. When a man or woman cheats, it does not make them less feminist. It makes them susceptible to human nature.2) Issue 2Taking statements out of context. A lot of anti-feminist statements tend to pick out something a woman has said and point out - if a man says this you would throw a fit. This tactic is highly problematic because it completely ignores the context. There is a very long history of imbalanced gender dynamics caused by patriarchal society.Think of other situations where historic imbalance has taken place. A Gay Pride parade is seen as a positive celebration of LGBTQ people asserting their presence and acceptance in society. People who propose straight pride parades are seen as assholes because straight people have never had to struggle with coming out, being accepted and being afforded basic human rights.National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is a respected civil rights organization In the United States they are recognized for their efforts in fighting for legal and social equality. They continue to support racial minorities against discrimination. Organizations to advance white people tend to be classified as hate groups because historically white people have always held power and still hold power in most western nations.Similarly, men have been in positions of power for centuries. Women have been considered subordinate and dependent on men. Even today in many parts of a world a woman's role is reduced to being a wife and mother. A woman is expected to give up her hopes, aspirations, and identity for the man. Even in modern western nations male identity is asserted through last names and the man's career tends to outweigh the woman's.When a woman says she doesn't need a man for anything, she is not being anti-men. She is asserting that she is a whole individual human on her own and does not need a man for her identity. As a single unmarried Indian woman, I have asserted this many times to relatives and family friends who think I need to be married. I don't hate men. I'd still date or have relationships with men if I liked them. But I need to let people know that I have an identity without marriage and do not need a man in my life.Priyanka is just making that assertion. For f**ks sake even in Wonder Woman there is a delightful scene where Diana asserts that men are necesscary just for procreation. I'd bet my bottom dollar that every woman has had to assert her identity at some point or another. Every man has had to hear a woman assert her identity at some point or another.3) Issue 3Feminism has become about hating men. Genuine feminists who stand for equality need to speak up. This is why I am not a feminist/stopped being a feminist. How wonderful it would be if people could just ditch an identity when its problematic. Wouldn't it be great if black people could simply choose not to be black? (It is an extreme and fallacious example, but it has a point)Sure people hide their identities like gays staying in the closet or Sikhs shaving. Sure people do change ideology when they get disillusioned like switching political parties or converting religion. But when you do so it is hypocritical to say good people don't stand up. If you think feminism lacks genuine equality - then why not be the good feminist who makes the right arguments? When Hindus commit crimes in the name of religion, I don't stop being a Hindu - I raise my voice as a Hindu. When India gets a bad rep for corruption, pollution, or archaic practices, I don't denounce my Indian heritage - I raise my voice for the betterment of India. Similarly, I will never denounce feminism because gender equality is important and I will always raise my voice for it.4) Issue 4The whole false allegation red herring.False allegations do happen. When they occur, it is the worst thing in the world. It literally decimates the life of an innocent person. Even when cleared of all charges there is no going back. But that does not mean we turn our backs on victims. Women have a very difficult time gathering coming forward. First of all there is the societal perception that a victim of rape or sexual assault is less than or has lost her virtue/value. Secondly, there is all the doubt and s**t shaming to deal with. One would think that the Harvey Weinstein scandal would have opened our eyes as to how problematic rape culture is. When powerful women like Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie with all their money and power couldn't muster the courage - how will the ordinary woman in India find the strength to go against our system?False allegations are a needle in the haystack of unreported rapes and sexual assault. Yet we focus on it. Man bites snake is the sensationalist headline that gets people talking. Snake bites man is a much more common issue. The larger pressing issues need attention.5) Issue 5*sigh* the whole anti-feminism thing is exhausting.Humanity suffered centuries of problematic patriarchy. Feminism is just a few decades old but people want to ditch it because it has some problems. Why do we give up on the good things so easily but willingly endure the bad forever?

If a woman can want a man just for procreation, then why can't a man want the same. If SRK said the same thing he would have been termed as male chauvinist pig. But PC is seen as progressive.. Double standard much.
