Please do share your reasons. While we do gripe about regressive content, ultimately it is the audience who make these regressive movies and TV shows hits. It is why sexist movies and TV serials succeed by romanticising sexism or turning it into a joke. And we can't blame the older generation and TRP aunties alone for making such movies and TV serials hits. Cos many youth watch these movies and help to make it a hit. As for TV serials, though the TRP audience is predominantly responsible for TRPs, we can't forget that many sexist shows have a huge fan following consisting of many young girls and women. So are we, the audience, too responsible for this regressiveness? Cos we make such content a hit and producers make movies and TV serials to cater to our demands and tastes.

Yes, I believe its us who are to be blamed.

I have been to many show forums on this website, and its the young girls who argue with me, when i question silly regressive tracks shown.

No and I will tell you why.
Try making some good content but engaging films. Audience will not like them and some might even flo.

But if film makers continue to do this, Audience will get used to it and even love it and support it.
Audience and Public are very easy to mould. We need good filmmakers who genuinely want to make good films.

But unfortunately, some of the makers themselves are cheap and ghatiya and will continue to make such films and shove it down the throats and Audience even though they don't like , they will watch it eventually

Why would film makers continue to make loss making projects ? Everyone needs to earn to survive, some people want fame and money. Its the same as any industry. Construction companies continue to cut down trees to make new new projects. Why dont they stop and think what harm they are causing to the environment. Cause they want to earn.

There are film makers who want are passionate about cinemas and want to make good movies, but in the long run, how will they survive ??

We are probably the biggest party responsible. Anytime someone makes a content driven film, most are rejected by the public who chooses to watch the same old same old masala flics. I am guilty of it too and I am sure most of us are. We flocked to see nonsense because of a star or what not and ignore movies that have real meaning and then we outselves complain no one makes good films.

@Apoorvarnav- why would film makers continuously make movies that don't rake in $$$, this is their money the invest. Would you invest in a venture that puts you at a loss repeatedly hoping that eventually people will mature?

You are right, but it needs to start somewhere. Starting anything will flop, but ten it will get picked up.
Even cheap movies were not always instant hits.!
They need to start making good content, and eventually audience will like it.

when Ekta made Kyuki n Kahaani, those were novel ideas on tv. Now Every PH has similar shows, why ? Cause it gets trp's.

How many off beat Cinemas can boast to compete with Salman Khan's masala movies, in terms of box-office business... None...

Everyone wants to earn name fame and money in today's world. And people dont think twice about such thing. No one would want to sacrifice their own lives and career for this kinda revolution. We cant even blame them unless we ourselves are ready to sacrifice our lives for the greater good.

Hell yes! I'm waiting for the day Indian audience rejects the regressive, repetitive plots and never ending episodes. It would be heaven if they started creating 25 episode shows! But, so far it's just a pipe dream.
