Did you see the Rohit interview I posted above? He really does seem confident. He has mentioned this before that his team feels that this is Rohit's best film till date. Keeping fingers crossed cause Rohit knows his job, as in to make masala films. I may not be a fan of his but as long as he keeps that huge mass base happy, the film is safe.

Yes I saw the interview. He spoke about simmba very passionately. Not gonna take his word blindly as simmba is his baby n he will anyways love it but one thing that struck me is that he seems to have enjoyed it as an audience too not just as a maker and last he said that was about singham n we know how well it did. Ranveer also said in some reality show that Rohit is so happy n excited about simmba that he actually showed movie to people close to him in trade and they loved it. So fingers crossed for simmba.

Even Kjo seems to be very confident about Simmba.. In the trailer launch he said finally he can say that he acted in a hit a film. I would be scared if an article came out saying that Adi Chopra loved Simmba. His judgement and sensiblities regarding what connects with the masses I don't trust. 😆
I feel the movie will do well. *fingers crossed* Can't wait to watch it.

Ranveer Singh 'Is The Next Biggest Superstar,' Says Simmba Director Rohit Shetty

NEW DELHI:

HIGHLIGHTS

  1. Rohit Shetty directs Ranveer Singh for the first time
  2. "I haven't seen a guy with so much positivity," said Mr Shetty
  3. "He is the next biggest superstar," he added

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who directed Ranveer Singh for the first time in Simmba, has all good things to say about the 33-year-old actor. "Positivity" and "genuineness" are some of Ranveer's biggest qualities as an actor, Rohit Shetty told news agency PTI and assigned him the title of "the next biggest superstar". "I've spent almost every day with him for the last six months and you come to know if somebody's fake. He is genuinely what he is. What you see is what you get. By now the world knows about how hardworking, honest, emotional he is. He is the next biggest superstar," PTI quoted Mr Shetty as saying. Simmba went on floors in June this year and wrapped in November, just in time forRanveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's wedding festivities.

Ranveer Singh co-stars with Sara Ali Khan in the cop drama, which marks her second Bollywood film. He plays a feisty cop named Sangram Bhalerao while Sara has been cast as his love interest.

During his interaction, Rohit Shetty also explained the reason behind Ranveer's crazy fan following. "I haven't seen a guy with so much positivity. A boy who is a superstar at this young age. His mentality, his thinking is still middle class. Hence he is media's favourite, the audience loves him, he has a huge fan following," PTI quoted the filmmaker as saying.

Talking about the kind of response he is expecting after Simmba's release, Rohit Shetty said: "People feel my films are theirs. They have this ownership which works for me. But I am happy with the film. How big it'll be, the numbers it'll do, that's secondary. What matters to me is if I was honest. I can't lie to myself."

Adding that he's looking forward to the audience connecting with Simmba and making it a success, Rohit Shetty said: "We have really worked hard on this one and given it our all. I make films every year and few films just fall on point, like Singham, Chennai Express or Golmaal 3 and I know with Simmba too this has happened. The beats are perfect."

I have a feeling that Simmba will have more "meat" than I first thought. Just watching the quick flashes of Simmba's transformation from dirty, weaselly cop to avenging hero in the trailer shows that Ranveer will make this role much deeper than what many may be expecting. The look in his eyes when he locks stares with Sonu's character as the cops are arresting/raiding is very intense and well-played by both actors.
Time will tell, but I really hope this is a big hit for Ranveer! ⭐️

Hello people, I am Ankita. I am quite infrequent on IF usually but I decided to come by this forum since I had some time.
Simmba trailer seems like pure desi entertainment with a serious message. Its peppy and quirky in the beginning and then takes a U-turn towards a very serious topic. I am hoping that they will handle the change in this rhythm with good sense considering the seriousness of Singham previously.
Some points to note-
* Simmba being a spin-off from the universe of Singham...good business sense to get Ajay's Singham to intro Ranveer's Simmba in the trailer plus that big car swerving shot at the end... its gonna get the mass pull even if we keep aside the general mass pull of Ranveer Singh and the starkid quotient of Sara Ali Khan.
* I can see some analogy of the character of Disney Simmba to Ranveer's Simmba - The self-serving but good-hearted character that initially lost its way but later on returned as the strong people's hero and king of the jungle. So we know there is a character graph from minus to plus here. If nothing else, that definitely connects with common people. White-washed characters don't work all the time. People like to see flaws as that makes it real, and when a flawed character properly redeems himself, folks appreciate it even more I feel. Atleast I prefer to see that. It connects to normal people I think.
* Aankh Mare song is very catchy - a complete dance number for the parties and discos. I liked it a lot. Its gonna be very popular.
* Tere Bin - for me- is even better than Aankh Mare. I like meaningful substance in my songs even if they are remakes. The former is a dance number but this one is a song you can listen several times in a day and just be at peace for those few minutes. It grows on you more and more. What works for me is the feel of it. The older version of Kachhe Dhaage was romantic but in an intense, angst filled yearning kinda way. This one is also romantic but in a very tender, gentle, supportive kind of way. Its there in the video too I guess. The hero and heroine look to be sharing a tender emotion of caring and support that is lesser portrayed in today's time of steamy romantic hits. Considering the topic of sexual assault that it deals with, I think the song showing the tender, positive, supportive side of love was a good call. There is still passion as the characters embrace but it doesn't mean a deficiency of tenderness. The contrast of the muscled policeman and a sweet pretty girl reminds people that a muscular man need no just be only macho but can also be tender. That forehead kiss is aptly tender and loving. I usually close my eyes and listen to it - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's voice and the music is very soothing. KJO does not mess around when he sits down to business. I might hate some of the things he does but he is undoubtedly an ubersmart businessman.
* Sara looks cute and spunky as far as I can see. She reminds me of her mother and common sense tells me that starpower (unfortunately) still hasn't lost touch with the common masses. People will turn up for her too. Esp after Kedarnath.
* Ranveer Singh looks and breathes Simmba in that trailer. Not easy to show the graph of a minus to plus growth in one film. He has what it takes and I am hoping he will do justice to it. There was that moment when he was speaking to that girl (who will be hurt later) and I could literally feel the innocence and pureness shining as Bhalerao connects to her as a brother. A glimpse of Ranveer's magic touch - I want the full spell enchanting me in the theatre. This Simmba is quirky and shady but with a soft heart, all macho with a sweet cuteness. Me likes. I look forward to seeing him on the big screen again.
