Nepotism never really makes sense to me, I've tried to see if it makes sense, but it only does on paper and not in real life.
Anyway, I'd say nepotism can only give a person a head start, and not entirely make their career, just like your list of 25 starkids shows. I think people don't want even that advantage to be offered to anyone... but but but.. it all sounds impractical..

Everyone wants to give their sons chance/s. Is it even possible to say "oh, you are so much talented than my son, I'll give you this movie" ...does that happen in real life? Do we expect it to happen? I don't understand. And this isn't even like a competition based on merit, where you can really ask your son interested in movies to "prove himself" ..

Same goes with "friends" or acquaintances in the industry. Everyone has their own obligations, their own majbooriyan, their own inclinations/affinities.

Everyone from all walks of life have their own challenges, this whole, 'born with silver spoon' doesn't mean they really have it easy... cos you never know until you're in their shoes, no one's life is easier than anyone else's.

As for "outsiders" ..once you do a movie, you're no more an outsider, no matter how low-profiled or reclusive person you are - a crew is acquainted with you, and will favor you next time for their next movie... isn't that also some sort of nepotism? On what basis did Martin Scorsese repeatedly cast DiCaprio? Perhaps there was someone else who could've played Howard Hughes better than Leo?

There's no merit system to pick the person with highest score, so how will we substantiate a film-maker's choice of a good product of a nepotism against the unknown faces that've lost the race?

Not everyone has an equally strong backing. The fact that a lot of the so-called non-actors even made their mark and are famous is due to nepotism. While there are so many good actors that just remain inconspicuous as junior artists by doing thankless roles.

I don't care if you are a insider or outsider as long as you have talent and can do justice to the writers and directors. It is mostly torture in the name of nepotism, we have to watch these talentless kids on screen. Abhishek, Abhay Deol, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor are exceptions. Ranbir Alia Sonam are the worst from the nepotism list unbearable to watch on screen.

and that too BIG BANNER

leave actress aside

during 1990 which newcomer got BIG BANNER except shubhash ghai's Saudagar vivek mushran...

none

if actress list like kangana and deepika are complied which family star female kid was available...during that time...

that didn't make much of a diff either way...Akki's Saugandh with Raj Sippy who had made films like SatePeSatta,Inkaar,Thanedaar,Andar Baahar and many more...and wht happened to Vivek Mushran after a big launch?
even there was no guarantee those days that after such a launch a star kid would get more films unless they were well received by the audience...

actress Urmilla,Manisha,Divya,Preity,Aishwarya,Sushmita and many more...Preity Zinta was going to b launched by Shekar Kapoor...Infact he recommend her for Dil Se...

I was stating the diff between yesteryear stars sons and daughters and the other star kids...

On a serious note I don't think many people who are against nepotism claim that it is a guarantee that insiders will end up becoming stars or superstars...what is said is that the privileges and chances the insiders get can not be denied...didn't abhishek bacchan get those chances which any other outsider in his place would not have got? wasn't his first movie itself a flop? wasn't saawariya flop too? what about alia bhatt? her sharanya was neither that big a hit not critically acclaimed, yet she got highway...which was critically acclaimed perhaps but didn't do well at the box office. which outsider gets movies pe movies after their first movie is neither critically acclaimed nor commercially hit and their second movie is only critically acclaimed while being a huge flop?
Where are the stars of fukrey?of pyaar ka punchnama?what chances did they get by the big insiders of bollywood?
I understand it is their money...but if they really want to indulge in nepotism then be unapologetic about it na...why be defensive or in denial about it? Denying the chances that insiders get only undermines the struggle of the outsiders...does it not?
like let me give one example...my father is in quite a comfortable position financially while my friend's is not...I did not have to work during my graduation years to pay the fee...while my friend had to work...so she was studying as well as working...I did not stop using my father's money or start earning for myself during graduation but what I can do is acknowledge that yes her life has been tougher than mine...similarly I don't say that these insiders stop enjoying the benefits they get...but a simple acknowledgemnt,a simple acceptance...what exactly is the harm in that? This is the least that can be done to show respect for someone's hardships.

Why would he add Ranbir Kapoor? He is still active in industry. The man has hits and 100 crore movie on his name alone. Hatred is really blind as well as love... 😆

As for nepotism debate, while reading about 100+ years of Bollywood history I have seen insider and outsider contribute equally well in industry. I have read about outsiders becoming insider and circle continuing. A win win situation. But I have never seen so many unrelated people whining under name of nepotism. SM really is breeding ground for discontent. Reminds me of movies about unemployed youths of 70's and 80's. 😆
