At least there the girl made the decision with no adult approving it. Child marriage means the exact opposite
And one's body belongs to the said person first and not to the parents. So first is irresponsible and second is a crime

So let the law at least prevent part of the issue if not all

So so sorry for your loss. When doctors are not good, it's the worst thing cos proper healthcare is a right of every citizen.

Angry sorry u had to go through that.

A standard of decent living is every human's right. Education and healthcare are some of the basic rights of human beings. No one should be denied access to this, but the world is a fail.

Some people who aspire to become doctors are most decent human being you can find.My mother's friend daughter who went to Columbia or could go to Harvard medical school gave up her admission to work with the woman who do lack these kinds of access. She is the reason why I chose to follow my passion.Money is needed, but it does not constitute your entire happiness.if we did pitch in our community, we can all contribute to people having a decent standard of life. Sorry, for rambling, but i am very emotional b/c as I am here .I am presenting this topic today in a seminar.

I know just making a law is not sufficient but, at least making a law is a start of a reformation. When there is no law to begin with, then how can a reformation be done?
Section 125 of the Civil Procedure Code talks about Maintenance of Wife, kids and parents. But, it was until recently that Muslim Women were also given a right to seek relief under the said section. The Muslim community straight away rejected the said provision of the CPC claiming it yo be an issue of their Personal law and after a lot of hue and cry, the SC just rejected the contention set forth by the community. Why do you think we do not have a uniform civil code? This is the very reason.

And what i mean to say it that more blame goes to lack of education or age old traditions/ customs or authorities not cracking down and strictly implemeting the law instead of just mentioning a particular community ( which you said ) ...as per report clearly more hindu children are getting married .

I am writing a paper on Maternal Health right now and i paid a visit to a public Hospital and i got the shock of my life to see women in labor (some whose water had brokem as well) sitting on chairs for hours as the hospital had no beds vacant (there was a notice about the same) and these women were sharing their beds with at least four other women.

No surprise there...

Exactly, this how it goes in SE Asian countries. These women do not have any proper basic facilities. There should be a bigger approach to address these issues.Yes, it breaks my heart to see this too when I go to Nepal.

Are u studying maternal health or doing MA on it?

I am eventually planning on doing Ph.D. in Maternal and Child Health after I finish Masters which I start next year.I am like so stoked on starting PHealth, sorry. It feels a burden has been lifted when I talk about this.

I am actually reading articles to put together right now on it.

18 year old should not be getting married nor a 16-year-old should be having a kid, to start.

If they do end up having kids, they should have basic rights as any human being would. They are no less equal.

This is very tricky cos I find it the creepiest most disgusting thing if a grown man of legal age has sex with a 16 year old. It is wrong on every level and no, she can't give her consent to a grown man.. he is preying on her.

But if a 16 year old has sex with a boy of her age then I find it confusing cos they both are kids.

What i have noticed around me is things have changed for good over time . Earlier girls ( among friends and families) would get married by 20/21 age but now i still have cousins and friends who are 25-26+ in age still studying or working and their parents not worrying about their marriage and want them to be independent 1st careerwise and then get married when they are ready .
