Yeah, I got excited to see BM but after watching it I hated it. I love the beautiful sets and what not, but at the end of the day I hate the stories of his films. I am keeping my expectations on Padmavati at zero, even though I am excited to see it? I am just conflicted, I guess! 😆 Anyone in the same boat as me?

I was in that boat until I saw the awesome chemistry between Ratan-Padmavati...I knew I was going to watch it but I wasn't feeling confident about it...Now I not only jumped that boat but also can't wait to watch the movie FDFS!☺️

Same here. Love his trailers but that's about it. Can't sit through his movies. The sets are fantastic and visually the movies are beautiful but for me substance wise it feels very shallow. The actors are forever screeching out every emotion and there is no subtlety or nuance that is t spelled out loudly. I enjoyed him dil de child sanam second half though bcoz I thought Ajay Devgan bought dignity and subtlety beautifully. Bajirao mastaani, I let bored. Nothing was exciting.. the way they fell in love, the palace intrigues everything felt flat but yeah priyanka shone

SLB's movies are puff pastries.Delightful to look at.Until you bite into it and realize that there's no substance. He takes these wonderful historical characters, presents them so beautifully and then reduce them to a third rate soap opera. In SLB's world it's all about Love, love, love. And melodrama. But on the plus side he does give due importance to the heroine and not reduce her to "love-interest".

SLB is not interested in bigger picture..His obsession is with details. He loves to pour himself into details, hidden analogies and basically creates a film in his own world.
So I think it gets frustrating sometimes for those who focus on picture as a whole when SLB is obsessing over few choice scenes because of whatever reason he loves them.

I guess SLB thinks the ultimate Love can be seen in suffering , that's why he loves to make his leads tragically suffer. I always feel so helpless everytime I finish a Slb movie and get 'to love is to be doomed' vibes so I take his movies small doses at a time 😆 I guess that's why SLB loves Mastani so much, her existence in life is to suffer in love

This. He is so obsessed with aesthetics especially after HDDCS and Khamoshi ( career best). He does not create any character that you can connect with which should be the essence of any drama film.

He is lucky that he gets some damn awesome actors who can salvage his weak script.

I don't like heavy dramatic stuff.. I still want to watch though.. cannot say if I will watch, and if I do, don't know if I will watch entire movie.

I liked Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Black. But these over the top historical features are usually way too OTT for me
