Btw, if this is a comparison with Judwaa 2. Then that "Khatara Gaari" dialogue was used to generate laugh from the audience I guess??(Sorry, I haven't watched the movie).
Well, objectifiying a women isn't funny. Oh yeah, I know there is a genre called Black Comedy. But a movie like Judwaa 2 which promotes itself as a family movie, shouldn't have such sexist dialogues as punchlines.

YJHD was a different genre. The characters in the movie were not perfect. They were more real and layered. It's not about the sexist dialogues used in a movie, it's about in which context they are used.

Even in YJHD the context it is used in is to show that Deepika's character is more marriage and love material since she is 'sidha sadha type' and not too modern.Which is too regressive for me.I personally don't like when girls who are modern and may not be goddy two shoes type are put in the category of not marriage material or love material.

I find most dialogues in Hindi films offensive but I calm myself down & tell myself that it's only a 'film'at the end of the day.

We can't really be sure that it was used in that context. Because later on in the movie, we see Naina becoming more modern, shedding-off her goody-two shoes character. And also only after that Bunny falls in love with her.
As I said, Bunny didn't believe in marriage till the end of the movie. So no way he can have views on which type of girls are/are not fit for marriage. In my view, he was just flirting with her which goes with his character too.

One can say that the dialogue was regressive. But it was not something which was shown as funny like in Judwaa 2. That dialogue at most, only showed the views of a flawed character, a normal person like any of us.

I find dialogues offensive even if they're just in movies. Cos I've known so many impressionable people in my life who get affected by the stuff they regularly watch. Like I know a girl who literally became anorexic cos one of her favorite stars regularly began doing stuff where he made fun of bigger women.

Just cos it's in a movie doesn't not make it less racist/sexist/homophobic etc. When it's shown as just a scene, I can take it cos as you know people can be like that in the world. But if it's shown as funny or entertaining or romantic then nah... mere oosool mujhe aise dialogues like karne ki ijaazat nahi dete 😆

I'm of the opinion that movies can be extremely funny and entertaining even without sexist etc stuff being thrown in it. I don't find sexist/racist etc stuff funny or entertaining at all but maybe many people do.

This dialogue is one of the most beautiful dialogues of the movie .. and not everything is about the type' of girl .. sometimes its just about the purity of character .. bunny meant this line owing to naina's pure and honest heart .. which is mandatory for love .. in my POV ..

Also, i am amazed at people being SO agaisnt sexism and female subjugation and still think stories where husbands burn thier wives hands are praise worthy ! .. 😕

The dialogue fit the character Ranbir was playing.
Now if he was playing a very considerate, loving, Zen type of character with no faults but wisdom.

I would be concerned.

Nopsie.. I hardly find any dialogue offensive to be honest unless its really really demeaning or makes a mockery of some serious issue
