Yes, times have changed but, the victimization of rape survivora is still there. I want to see a movie where the man/woman raped is shown as a survivor and not a victim. Calling them a victim further pushes them to their edge.

I agree with the Topic. It's a stupid movie going by the wiki description. Never saw it thankfully.

I'm not sure I understand your meaning when you say that people who get raped should be called rape survivors, rather than rape victims. Rape victim seems like a relevant term for people who got raped. Just like victims of other crimes. Why is there a problem with this term? I'm sorry but this is the first I've heard of this idea and I don't really get it. BTW I do understand that rape victims are made to feel as if their life has ended or they are subjected to a lot of stigma in the society. They are also blamed in many cases and have to suffer humiliation and I'm completely against it. But, I don't see why the term victim must not be used.

I faintly remember this one.Ek do glimpse yaad aa rahi hai bas 😆 Anyways I guess there are quite a few such movies from the 90s. Where the girl marries her rapist and all so most probably it wasn't a one off thing but a trend. Maybe the mindset of the society back then was that the girl will only get her honour back if she marries her rapist. I mean till today some judges ask the girl to marry their rapist as their verdict. So one can only imagine how it used to be almost two decades back. Feminism ki toh tab spelling bhi shayad kisiko na aati hogi meaning toh dur ki baat hai.

That type of thing was quite common in old movies. This is why when people here feel nostalgic over old movies I am like which movies? The disgusting sexist ones? The ones where almost all male heroes were creeps?

There was a movie in which a female inspector was in lead role. After fighting in whole movie she encourages the rapist to marry the girl. I can't remember the name of the movie.

Agree. It was a very bad movie. Since there was no social media it did not face the backlash. Nobody will dare to make such movies today.

The term rape victim destroys the remaining confidence left in those people. I worked at a NGO for two months which was a women helpline and there we were told to address the rescued girls as survivors of the crime whether it was rape/domestic violence/ or any other abuse. Our mentor made sure that the rape survivors brought back to the NGO were never used the victim term with.
When we term them survivors, we give them the power to overcome whatever happened I.e. it gives them a sense of empowerment. Victim as a term has been so much abused by the society that it lowers their morale.

This does sound disgusting in today s times but in those times this is how we perceived them. That was the thinking. The only way for the girl to survive. The girl was considered to be ill fit for society and the only to survive. Now the thinking has changed. Virginity is not question like before as today people have more then a relationship earlier it was huge thing when it comes to women. That would define whether she is worth it or no. The thinking level was low.
