Once we all burnt a plot of land which was in our locality which was an innocent act of collecting the trash and burning it so that the locality remains clean but we didn't realise that the whole plot had 'sukhi jhaadiya' which caught fire and slowly the whole plot of land was on fire which alarmed the neighbours. You can only imagine the 'kutai' which followed next in every kid's house involved in that scandal. 😆

My grandmother used to keep large earthen pots near coconut trees to cool them during summers.. The pots had gotten old.. I spotted mosquito larvae in them.. Instead of draining the water, I smashed the pots with a huge rock... Got blasted by my mom and aunts.. And my grandma, who hates girls, spat fire.

Isnt this invasion of privacy? I mean, you dont know the story before and after this.. Maybe the child is a nautanki cuz I have seen such kids.. Mothers cannot be judged based on a 1 min vid and this vid for sure should not have gone viral.. I personally think it is out of place for Virat.. He had no right.. BW tou kher manages to sweep in on every opportunity

Was never beaten for studies...but I got my share of beatings for not keeping the house clean...now I am a grown gentleman and I keep my house clean...I wont say my parents were wrong in beating me.
Reg the video in question...I still don't understand was this recorded to make viral? 😕 I mean seriously I feel whoever was shooting the video wanted to share it as a funny thing!

I fail to understand social media sometimes!

Such parents need counseling on how to raise kids.
Even elder siblings beating younger one is not right. It affects them mentally.

I haven't seen the video but as kids, we all got beatings. However, if the woman is indeed really vicious, she might well have mental issues. One of my aunts is a paranoid schizophrenic and it's only been properly diagnosed now she's 50. I remember seeing as a kid how she used to traumatize her daughter. Somehow her viciousness was reserved for her daughter, never her son.

You guys have no idea how women with mental issues can lie about their own kids. I have seen it first hand.

This is very wrong in ever way. You don't talk to 3 years old kid like that and why need to slap if she don't understand. Kid kept saying pyaar se but still her mom🤪

I never understood this concept shout and beat your kids if they failed or dont do well in studies. They don't think for a sec what will go through on child.

My dad never beated me and my brother he was very supportive. Even my chachu's never beat their kids. But I got a lot of maar & tappad from my mom when I used to do bad in the exam. That was around after age 8 .I was really scared for my next exam I was keep thinking if I failed my mom gonna beat me. My dad was in the US once he got to know my mom slapped me he said next time dont touch the kids.

Children don't learn this way. Parents needs to understand this.

There was incident happened with me after that everybody loved me a lot. My mom was doing her Master and I was staying at my nani place. I hate going to tuition that aunty was so strict and used to cry. After telling my mom and masi I do not want to go to her. They never listened to me. What I did once I never came back from school. Also I was very close with my cousns I was missing them a lot I wanted to stay with them so I stayed at school waiting for my cousin to take me to home n stayed half night at school & my principal got to know around 8 PM. Everybody was looking for me and I was drinking milk, and eating at my principal home 😆. My principal finally got to know and send me home (my dad house not my nani's because I did not wanted to go there) They were about to call the police but I came but uske baad mujhe jo lecture mila oh my goodness. I think after this incident my mom never beat me or anything. I told my mom's family nobody listen or loves me I only want to stay with my dad. My dad wasnt with me during my childhood memories if he was I dont think I would have done that :(

Other than that my childhood was awesome I had so much memories with my cousins.

this is just wrong and its gonna effect the child later on. Sadly in our desi culture this is acceptable and much more. I myself have been abused like mish with rod and whatnot. The thing is it wasn't just at home, it was also at school. be it teachers, PT Sir, they did the same like its their baap ki jaagir.
There was this one professor, now looking back I see he had some issues, so one day he just comes in our class, tells me to stand up and then gives me 5 zor ke jaapad for no reason and I mean literally no reason and then leaves 😕

at home with belt, rod and many times the reason wasn't even apparent. One time I remember my big bro asked a question, I gave the rite answer and he still slapped me so looking back I'm like if you're gonna slap a kid even when he gives right answer then what will go in his head? like sahi jawab doon toh bhi padegi, galat doon toh bhi, koi farak toh padta nahin.

that's only on physical level, forge the emotional and what they do on psychological level. criticizing, condemning, making you feel like shit and for what?

point is none of this helps the child, it only effects them in a very bad way. I'm still trying to undo the damage they did

but its how they were raised so whatever conditioning they got, they give it out, its like they can't do any better and so it continues 🥱

In our culture, there is immense pressure placed on (most) kids to perform well in their studies from a VERY young age. And these parents will use ANY method they feel to discipline kids which they believe is beneficial for the kid. Sure, the kid might even start performing better but this is not good for their psychological health in the long run. It also very negatively impacts their relationship with their children cuz we always tend to remember our childhood after we reach adulthood (good and bad in in incidents)

I empathise with you @Mishh007, I don't know what to say to make you feel better but I hope you can find it in you someday to let it go (though it's easier said than done, I know).

I wish some parents would just accept the fact that not every kid is the same and is special in their own way! Comparing your children to other people's children is also gonna do them moe harm than good cuz every person has a different trajectory in life. We should find our own rather than aping other people's.

That said, I haven't watched the video. I'm just adding my thoughts to the discussion on this thread. I feel the film Taare Zameen Par really gave a good insight into this issue.
