According to the early trade trends, Toilet Ek Prem Katha 2nd day collection will be in the range of 16-16.5 crores. This is just the trade estimate and the producer numbers can vary.
Today, the film had a very good start in the morning shows. The overall occupancy was 35% which is around 15% jump from Friday. It picked up further in the noon shows and started to witness a huge upward trend from afternoon onwards. Multiplexes were rocking big time as the occupancy in the evening shows was 65-70%. Single screens are also steady but more reports are awaited and actual trend in interiors will be out tomorrow.
The film is performing best in North India which is a huge advantage as these places tend to hold better during weekdays. In Delhi/UP, Bihar and East Punjab and Delhi, the occupancy is almost double as compared to last week big releases Jab Harry Met Sejal. It has also picked up in Mumbai but there is still more scope for growth.
The film underperformed on the opening day but it was kind of given due to the appeal. It was looking more like a content oriented film and a big initial does not come for such films. But with the help of word of mouth, it has picked up rapidly and there will be further growth on Sunday. Toilet Ek Prem Katha box office collection in 2 days will be close to 30 crore. The opening weekend can target for 50 crores.
The box office performance on Saturday has almost ensured that it will be a hit at the box office. Though the hold on Monday has to be fair before it will be declared hit. The budget is around 68 cr including Akshay Kumar's fee and it should go over 100 crores for recovering the costs. With holiday advantages and positive word of mouth, it will not be a tough task.
Akshay Kumar has finally given some relief to the distributors and exhibitors. The actor has been steady recently and has delivered back to back hits. If Toilet Ek Prem Katha becomes a success, he will become the third biggest superstar in India.
