...So, has anyone ever watched an old Aamir film titled Raakh? It always amazes me how such a young guy took up such a dark and unusual film right after his romantic blockbuster debut. Aamir is so incredibly good in it. Watch Aamir in Raakh if you haven't already. It's a solid film and I miss Aamir being even more experimental and reckless like he was as a young boy. He is so phenomenal in it. People claim he's "rehearsed" or whatever but Aamir in Raakh is a proper revelation. He has always been soo good, so talented. His emotional scenes were still jerky as a sophomore but he is overall so great in it. And this, as a 24 year old. It's such an unusually lyrical film with some fantastic acting and a true reflection of what and how much Aamir was capable of at so young an age.

He has been talented very much from his younger days. Now he even ghost directs movies which is a feather in his cap.
Thanks for posting this. I did not watch this movie. I will catch this up soon. Is it available on Netflix or Amazon?

I am not sure. I don't use either but I feel you'd have more luck checking Amazon. It's available on youtube though, if you can stand ehh quality. But yeah, he has always been so phenomenally talented. His acting is so understated in comparison to the OTT mess of the age also. It's refreshing to see him so downstated in the nineties when OTT-ness reigned supreme. Yes, he is also really smart about directing too. I genuinely hope that he will actually direct a bit more after fifty five. Although he does ghost-direct, his personally directed TZP was pretty beautiful for a debutante IMO. I would love if/when he'd direct more. But yeah, watch Raakh if you haven't yet. It's a strange film, you may really dislike it but Aamir is sooo good ugh. Such a mature performance.

I know. It was a critically well received film, despite the whimsies. Pankaj got the much deserved supporting actor award IIRC. Aamir and him scored FF nominations also. I have read that Jackie and Nana won for Parinda that year, which again, is a classic.

Raakh is very much an underrated movie and that time Aamir was newbie who started his career in romantic films. I'm a huge fan of Aamir but he took a risk of doing this film and he nailed with it. Not only was the story good but the revenge angle was handled very well.

Like I said, Aamir was superb and puts his heart and soul in to this movie as always. Pankaj Kapur was very good as the police man and shares good chemistry with Aamir. Just loved most their scenes together.

If I had to make list of my favourite revenge movies in Indian Cinema then Raakh will definitely be on this list.

Right? Aamir was so incredible in it. I think Raakh failing so badly (BO wise) made him really listless for a while in the early nineties. He was doing the right thing at the wrong time. Pankaj Kapoor is incredible. Him and Aamir were so brilliant together and all their scenes flow beautifully. They should have acted together in more such dark dramas. Aamir should really consider making another darker revenge drama similar to this, it was super cool for a young 24 year old guy to have picked up a film such as this following his romantic blockbuster debut. Not many will.

Also, just to mention, I love Ajay's acting. He is one of the finest mainstream actors of Bollywood. Him and Aamir are two of the most talented and understated Bollywood actors of all time IMHO.

Acha, so you know I'm a Ajay Devgan fan? :) I've seen all of his movies till date.

Yes, I agree with the last paragraph. Ajay & Aamir are great actors but some performances which they have done throughout their careers is just amazing. Can't imagine anybody doing Ghajini, PK, Dangal, Deewangee, Zakhm, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Gangaajal and ect.

Ajay has made mistakes in his career which is normal but he needs change. I want him to do content based films with good stories because he's done it before with Zakhm and other movies as well. Hopefully, Tanaji Malusare will bring the best out of Ajay because he's never played warrior before. This type of role will suit him. I can easily imagine him doing Jodaa Akbar & Baijirao Mastani. No offense to Hrithik & Raveer who both exelled in their roles respectively but Ajay would have done both roles with perfection.

Rakh was technically Aamir's first movie and he was simply superb in it... the guy can emote and get into the skin of the character... true actor...
And yes the movie is worth a watch...
