We went to see a morning show yesterday- we were the only ones in the theatre- I kid you not.

I think the only reason the movie tanked is because Anushka's character had 0 material. Why did she throw herself at Harry again and again? The movie would have made sense if only it was that she wanted to live her life before she went back to her conservative family and fiance and it was her one last fling! Nothing serious but eventually becomes serious. Also, I dont know the kind of women Imtiaz knows but I cant imagine anyone wanting to emulate a stripper!!!

1-2 scenes on Sejal's motivation for acting the way she did and the movie wouldnt have been so confused and confusing by turns. She was this sex kitten and conservative gujjus- watching her made me feel like I had a bipolar disorder. She really was a split personality

also, too many songs...barring 1-2 songs none of the songs carried the story forward.

It could have been a good movie- but ended up being i-cant-wait-for-this-to-be-over fest!

@bold, I get where you are coming from. In Imtiaz' case, he often uses music with flashbacks occasionally in them to do the talking for the characters. But unfortunately a lot of the songs don't get released prior to the release of the movie. So a lot goes unsaid since the audience is listening to the music the very first time whilst watching the movie and and hardly do people really pay attention to the lyrics. So yes, either the characters should crafted such a way that the audience gets what's going on in the mind of the character or music/flashbacks etc should be released prior to the release of the movie so that the audience is familiarized with the context.

Not yet updated by BOI or Taran Adarsh, Ive been checking every hour but no updates from them yet

Some other websites have said it was 16 crores on Sunday and it did slightly better than Saturday

Jab Harry Met Sejal Has Strong Weekend Overseas

Jab Harry Met sejal has done well overseas to record the best opening of the year beating Raees by a small margin and its mainly to do with Pakistan as Raees was not released in that market. The other circuits are generally a little better for Raees. The film recorded the second best opening ever in Pakistan after Sultan which was an Eid release. The other circuits are good but with Shahrukh Khan they could have been better as the content has held the film back a bit as many markets did not grow much over the weekend. Nevertheless it is the tenth highest overseas opening of all time and the highest ever outside a festive (Eid, Xmas, Diwali) holiday period. The apprx figures of Jab Harry Met Sejal from Overseas markets are as follows.

United Kingdom - $600,000

US / Canada - $1,300,000

Gulf - $2,500,000

Australia - $350,000

Pakistan - $650,000

Far East (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia) - $400,000

The above markets contribute around $5.8 million and the rest of the world would have picked up around $1 million plus to finish at around $7 million.

What about Don 3? I hope Don 3 has desi elements. If it turns out to be as soulless as Don 2, it won't work. Don 2 was pretty bad.

Yes, this Overseas 1st weekend total is higher than Raees... more so because Raees didnt release in Pakistan while this movie had a huge opening in Pakistan.

14.75 cr on Sunday as per BOI. That's lower than the Friday figure. The trending is pretty bad. With 44 cr weekend it would probably finish at 65 cr.

Jab Harry Met Sejal First Weekend Business

Jab Harry Met Sejal grossed 44 crore nett over its first weekend. The total is a fair number but well below expectations of a Shahrukh Khan starrer. Its even beaten the lifetime figures of most recent films in the weekend but still its a low number and the trend is poor as day one remains the best day. This was going to be a possibility as the way the director narrates stories it is very niche. The storytelling as per his past films is very poor and then when you open at 15 crore nett it means you get a large audience which will just not relate with this type of storytelling.

The only way out was if the metros went crazy over the film then you have a shot at 125 crore nett (Barfi! till date is biggest at 105 crore nett for a primarily metro film) but this did not happen. The weekend collections of Jab Harry Met Sejal are as follows

Friday - 15,00,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 14,25,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 14,75,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 44,00,00,000

The business is good in the metros over the three days but even there the growth is not what it should have been over the weekend. The film has fared poorly in East Punjab despite the presence of many high end multiplexes and even West Bengal which is a Shahrukh Khan dominated circuit has not really performed with around 2.50 crore nett. Mumbai grossed around 14 crore nett while Delhi / UP was 8.50 crore nett. Comparatively Mysore was best at 3.25 crore nett apprx.
