Won't speak about the film as I didn't watch it, nor will I but, it looked bad. Like a repeat of other things I have seen before. Anushka is boring to watch for me and SRK doesn't look good romancing younger woman. Just my view though.

Anushka Opens Up About Turning Down Tamasha

Written By Roktim Rajpal Mumbai Updated: July 17, 2016 10:18 pm 1547043 reads 60 comments

It is common knowledge that Anushka Sharma is one of the most popular and gifted stars in Bollywood today. Moreover, she is also quite particular about the films she does. In fact, she turned down Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha as it focused mainly on the male protagonist. The role eventually went to Deepika Padukone.

During a chat with a leading journalist, Anushka was asked whether she regretted the decision. Replying to the query she said that she hasn't seen the film. Moreover, the actress added that had she done the film she would have been praised as Imtiaz is a good director.

"I have no doubt that if I did the film I would be praised. Any actor in an Imtiaz Ali film will always be good for he is a good director and is very good with his actors, she added.

On a related note, Anushka was last seen in Sultan which opened to a thunderous response at the box office.

if you see JHMS you will see SRK and Anushka have amazing chemistry and have literally carried the whole film which has no script or story. I dont think the actors r to blame in this case..except maybe for backing a film which has no solid script... the director lost a golden opportunity, imtiaz was given a dream set up and he failed

Wow the comments are amazing! 😆😆

How is Sultan more female-oriented than Tamasha? Why comment on films you've rejected--she's being sly and slighting DP by saying anyone would do well in a film by Imtiaz. No need for the rudeness, Deepika's never openly criticized/attacked Anushka, Anushka seems hypocritical. Anushka used to be my favorite but after she being friends with the RK-Karan camp she's become less genuine. PV Please Post

So she turned down Tamasha as it focused mainly on the male protagonist but picked DDD and Sultan coz these were female oriented!...Who is she trying to convince?

She's throwing low-key shade though. By saying that any actor will be good in an Imtiaz Ali film, she's taking away credit from what Ranbir and (especially) Deepika brought to the table as actors in Tamasha. Imtiaz is a great director, of course, but the actors in Tamasha took the film a step further (the story wasn't particularly gripping). Neither Nargis Fakhri (Rockstar) nor Giselli Monteiro (Love Aaj Kal) were good or received praise for their acting even though Imtiaz directed those movies too. It takes a good actor to get the kind of praise that RK-DP got for Tamasha. In fact, I don't know if Anushka would've excelled as Tara in Tamasha at all. Deepika (while being a limited actor herself) surprisingly brought a deep sense of vulnerability, effervescence, and radiance to Tara, which would've been lost in Anushka's limited repertoire of wide smiles, unintended frowns, and superficial bindaas girl act.

why bring this into it? have u even seen JHMS? theres no proper script or story...SRK and anushka have truly gone above n beyond what they could have done... what tamasha and JHMS have incommon is Imtiaz Ali...an overrated director. IMO JHMS with it's flaws is still a better n more fun watch than tamasha

@bold: Oh the irony! Anupama said Harry was so charming and he deserved to fall in love with either Geet of JWM or Tara of Tamasha because these women were fire. 😆 Tch tch! 😆

@red: That summarises Anushka's acting skills in a line. 👏

I agree...most ppl r blaming the story...the actors did the best they could with what they were given. Imtiaz needs to reflect on whats going wrong with his movies.
