I want to see same analysis of Sallu, SRK AK, AD and Akki for first 10 years. Would they reflect the trend in next 10 years and future?
on topic - They all are here to stay for next 10 years and more. It'll be a good fight.

Sid Mal may be in the running after Gentleman.

Ranbir and varun looking forward to them
Both of them are extremely talent varun is doing g ood ranbir just needs to choose better scripts and then nobody will be able to beat him besharam s opening proved what RK is capable of he gave an opening of 20 crore with newbie actress all he needs to do is invest his talent in better place

For me it's ranbir>varun>ranveer both in terms of talent and stardom

Many of your points aren't so true

Barring Salman, SRK, Ajay and Akshay, rest didn't deliver BB in their first 5 years. They has super hits and stuff but never amongst top 2 or 3

You're talking as if Ranveer or Ranbir have deleivered amongst top grossers of the year. YJHD and Bajirao did score big on excellent WOM especially the later one.

Indeed Varun has to deliver a blockbuster but also needs to continue that BO pull and success ratio balanced. YJHD onwards Ranbir delivered 3 tragic flops and possibly a biggest disaster of all time. Bombay Velvet lifetime collection was few cr ahead YJHD's opening day. Also to note YJHD came in 7th year for Ranbir. Same applies for Bajirao, with great WOM he got his big grosser but that's got movie had amazing war scenes and well mounted sets. If you take them out of movie, it'd lose people's interest. Bigger the budget was, grander the sets was, better the collections was. Despite grossing 180cr the movie still was declared hit.

As for Varun - his films don't always carry best WOM but manages a hit due to opening day and weekend. Which tells much about his starpower. Constancy is important for a star to be proven better over others. I mean if you're talking about delivering blockbusters then sure ARK also delivered Aashiqui 2 😆

Okay, I'll simplify.

Salman and HR had similar starts to their career with Salman delivering an ATBB (4+ crores footfalls) and HR a BB (with 3+ crores footfall - that's unimaginable right now for any actor save for the Khans).

While Salman had some 5-6 successes after MPK, he was giving flops/disasters right, left, center until HAHK. HR was giving flops/disasters/average successes until KMG. Did those disasters affect them? It didn't seem too because I'm sure you'd admit that both had established themselves as all-India stars by then. And, they'd already delivered huge blockbusters - building a reputation for themselves.

While Varun is on his way towards super stardom, he doesn't yet have the same appeal that was clearly there for HR after KNPH. For that, you need a universally loved movie. That is where most actors falter. Even someone as accomplished as Akshay has two blockbusters only. Audiences need to love your movies. HR has KNPH, KMG, and Krrish. SRK had Darr, Baazigar, DDLJ. Salman had MPK, Saajan, HAHK.

So that's the kind of movies - where fans fall in love with it - that helps you attain a level of stardom. Also the reason why HR is the last of that kind today. Ranbir was getting to that level, but after Besharam, it went downhill for him. That said, Ranbir is a terrific actor, so he can crawl back like Aamir. Varun isn't as good an actor and not everyone can be as iconic as Salman Khan despite not having what purists would call - acting chops.

Nonetheless, look at Salman. He has the most disasters out of the Khans. However, as far as raw stardom goes, he doesn't have any competitor. So, consistency is good and what Varun is doing right now is commendable.

What Bollywood needs now is that star who reaches out to a universal audience in a way they haven't for a long time now. You would argue that the last time it happened was Ranbir in YJHD, but more prominently, it was HR during his first seven years. For HR, it was his ill-decisions that cost him that status ultimately. For Ranbir, the same happened, although Ranbir wasn't as popular as HR was.

This is the first time in decades that a youngster hasn't been able to give a blockbuster or a huge grosser. That's why Judwaa 2 is all important. It's a rehash of one of the most loved movies on the television circuit. Nobody from this generation of actors (Ranveer, Arjun, Varun, Sid, Tiger, Sushant) has been able to reach the 2+ crore footfall mark.

So, it's not about individual wars here. If Varun is to reach that level, he'll have to breach that barrier.

What's appreciable about Varun is the fact that he's pretty sure of what he's capable of. He knows what works for him and what would draw audience to his films. However as someone already pointed out, his films are pretty forgettable, even his best. His best is not better than the best of his contemporaries. He's getting the job done though, his projects are minting money and he's accumulating fans quite rapidly esp many Salman fans always have been harboring soft spot for him. Nonetheless I don't see him reaching the levels of superstars of this era. Yes he'll be giving occasional big hits if early trends of his career are anything to go by.

RK and RS will have to work harder to connect with the masses as effortlessly as Varun does. RK is quite a darling of the classes but has close to zero affinity with the masses. Ranveer just badly requires a massive persona makeover for people to take him seriously. For how long will he be known as DP's beau or for his alien suits?

Badlapur is somewhat people remembers. Raghu is his best performance and matched upto Nawaz in that film. His roles in Dulhania films too. Again people take commercial roles lightly on this forums. BKD was a smash hit in all centres and came during weak release period. Badrinath worked mainly due to Varun if you go by reviews

Varun probably has best upcoming films by legit directors (Shoojit Sircar, Nitesh Tiwari and DLKH director)

Ranbir delivered his iconic Rockstar and Barfi in his fifth year. Ranveer made it big in his fifth year with Bajirao. Varun will do it in a year at atleast.

So far it looks boring and SRK is having a Brad Pitt hangover. And it has Suhana, the worst actress ever to hit the industry. What do you think?...
