I don't think that is necessarily true. People can dislike him because his acting is bad or that they don't like him personally.
He is popular but that shouldn't take away from his bad deeds. People work with him because he can make a profit. Why else would anyone want to work with him?

Case in point, being a crappy person and being loved by the audience is something way too many people seem to get so confused over. His success overshadows all his wrong doings.
