Why did Mahira get poor reviews for Raees while Saba gets rave reviews

The role was not a meaty one. Other than that, she was good in whatever little she had to do in Raees

I have seen Maat and Humsafar ..Saba is way more better actress and better looker ...Mahira is highly overrated after Humsafar

When I googled for Raees reviews these are the first few I got for Mahira. Her role hardly had a scope to get any good reviews in the first place, which is what most of the reviews said (at least those that even cared to mention her). Otherwise she is a decent actress. I liked her in Humsafar.

mahira khan is a good actress when the director is good and her role is well shaped

she was her best in Humsafar

however she is inconsistent and goes very OTT at times

i did not like her acting in Bin Roye and thought she was over doing a lot of scenes and was rather OTT. In raees she barely had a role.

Saba on the other hand is a much much more talented actress. Her craft is SOLID. Having seen her plays and her ability to get in skin of varied roles to the T. I am not surprised at the raving reviews for her recent act. Especially her acting in Maat was so so good (if any one has seen that play)

Saba is the real debut to watch out for this year so far..

as per the question asked..simply coz Saba must have been outstanding and Mahira was anything but that..and what more could she have done when she was barely a prop..

Mahira didnt have a big role in Raees but whatever scenes she had she did them competently.

I didnt watch Hindi Medium yet but Saba has an equally important role as Irfan as the story is abt a couple who are facing school problems with their kid.
