There's something about rags to riches story that everyone seems to like. Sundar Pichai traveling in buses, no tv is still written as an epilogue to entice readers. Most people struggle, some gets it easy.
No poor person grows up in Malabar Hill. KJo did. His dad didn't make big money through films but invested wisely in real estate. Having not so rich relatives doesn't make him poor. And SRK's mom was a close friend of Indira Gandhi. He grew up Upper Middle Class. He met Gauri at one of the upscale clubs in Delhi ( Gauri's dad was an Army officer). Losing parents at a young age was definitely a struggle.
Haven't really read much of what is posted here but with regards to Shahrukh , he has stated on record that his parents gave him a wonderful education. The guy has gone to some of the best schools and colleges in Delhi man. His mother was a magistrate in Delhi but from whatever is out there , it doesn't seem like his father was successful when it came to his career. If I'm not wrong his father at one point was running the NSD canteen in Delhi. His father was the youngest freedom fighter which is how they knew the Gandhis. His mother came from a very well off family and anyone who has seen the episode of Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai would know he had a bunch of friends that were financially very well off as compared to him so him meeting Gauri at one of the parties shouldn't surprise anyone since his circle of friends , well most of them from whatever is out there were quite well off financially.
