Sivagami and Kattapa are interesting characters.

My guess is that the power and control over Mahismati and it's prosperity got to her head. Remember, she was the one ruling after Amarendra's parents died, so for her to not only maintain Mahismati and fend from enemies, but to grow and make it even more prosperous is a great feat.

The undying loyalty she found in Bahubali also added to that ego. In that scene where Devasena is brought 'captive', Sivagami tells Bahubali that she has promised Devasena to Bhallaladeva. Had Devasena not interrupted, I'm curious to see what Bahubali's reaction would have been; and whether Sivagami's reaction would have been any different given that her anger towards Bahubali was only because of Devasena's fierceness. A question to everyone here -- how do you think Bahubali would have reacted had Devasena not interrupted.

Kattapa's case is much more different. He did refuse to kill Bahubali, but he only changed his mind when Sivagami told him that she would do it herself then. I think Kattapa knew deep down that Sivagami didn't want to have Bahubali killed but circumstances forced her to issue the order, after all it was an attack on the King of Mahismati and Devasena's request for the throne of Mahismati sort of played alongside each other in a unfortunate case. Bahubali, being the favorite of the people, would have gotten a huge reaction from the public if he was put on trial and found guilty, everyone wold have believed it was a ploy of Mahismati royals.

Sivagami's character is brilliant in the sense that she has these humanistic flaws. She portrayed both sets of emotions (motherly and queenly) and had them both clash against each other. She was disappointed when Bhallaladev removed Bahubali from Commander; and I think she regretted appointing Bhallaladev immediately after she cooled down. After all, Bhallaladev didn't care about the subjects during the war against the Kalakeyas (how he would have been an efficient commander either makes no sense either...).

Another question: Was Kattapa really in danger or was that just part of the scene to lure Bahubali towards Kattapa?

But then, the whole AmarSeva would be flashback, from Devasena POV, which would be even more painful for me.
In BB2, everything from AmarSena was from Kattapa POV coz he had witnessed them. He was there with them in almost all the scenes (except Hamsa Navva song). I guess that's why we were not shown anything private 😉

- I guess he was really in danger. Bhalla would have done this to make sure Amarendra came to the hidden place. Kattapa couldnt kill him amongst the people. And he couldn't trust Kattapa either.

I think that's why he knew the exact location and came there to assassinate Amarendra

I have a lot to say with regards to Sivagami & Kattappa but going to wait until we have the next thread.. they are characters with layers..

In the Tamil version, a lullaby comes up after Amarendra dies.. that Sivagami used to sing to him.. The 3 people she mentioned in that lullaby - Kattappa, Bhalla and herself.. It's painful to think that eventually these 3 are the ones that lead to his tragic death!😭

Part 1 we hailed her so much and now is like chi what a blunder we did by holding her so high !! Even I have that doubt how she was ruling the kingdom with these kind of laws ( chaining a pregnant woman, banishing people for voicing out their opinion ) ?? As Deva said those have to be burnt , thrown into water.. Mahishmathi mahasamrajyamam thoo adhu onnu dhan koreichal. (Translation- Mahishmathi mahasamrajyam that title is the only thing lacking. ) Kunthalas though a much a smaller kingdom was way better than these bunch of jokers. The irony is how Baahu became so humble and just drinking her milk. I think upholding dharma was already in his blood ( Vikrama deva and wife ) which was much stronger than the milk she fed him that's why he never swayed from the path of righteousness.

But I must say Ramya K was brilliant ! Loved her acting... everything about her from her dressesing to her dialogue delivery to the slightest glance was so perfect for the situation she is truly a legend I can't see anyone else in this film industry who could do justice to the role of Sivagami as she did. She is par excellence !!

Sivagami was wrong. Period. She did apologize later, but it was too late.

Treachery is nothing new in palaces and kingdoms. Is strange that she didn't have her own spies. She took her decisions based on ego and emotions, and destroyed so much.

She didn't want Baahu to be the King ... Fine. She could have spoken to him.

Amarendra would have stood by Devsena in the court, even if she had kept quiet. He had promised Devsena his devotion, his love and their togetherness.

Second, Katappa was in danger. If Amara had not reached in time, Katappa would have been killed by the king's men

When it came to her son, when she got to know about Bhalla's true nature, she said to organize a Rajya Sabha right away. Why didnt she kill him as soon as she got to know the truth?

Double standard at its peaks !! For Baahu immediate death sentence whereas for Bhalla call in the ministers, have a trial then kill them.

One more thing you guys noticed when people are wailing she goes out and tells Amarendra is no more his son Mahendra Bahubali is the new king. How Amara died ? That she didn't tell. Or I could be wrong probably she wanted to address the rajyasabha get them to admit their crimes and then tell people the truth before hanging them ?? Maybe. Nonetheless people never got to know the truth. They also all their lives spent in hailing Sivagami then Amarendra and Mahendra poor people didn't get to see her true colour.

oh that lullaby😭,it was there in Malayalam version as well!that was pure torture...showing baahu lying dead ,but with a smile on his face!my vision was clouded by tears then😭...and almost all people in theatre were weeping like anything .

that 4 demons:sivagami, kattappa ,bhallaladeva and bijjaladeva (in the decreasing order of their evilness...or of my hate towards them.)...they should've got chithravadham,bleeding by all the stone pelting from the praja for what they did to amarendra! especially the first two!

and all that 4 names should've never been taken in mahishmati ever again!

devasena could've ruled the kingdom very well ,till mahendra was older...she was very much capable and she had her entire kunthala desam with her!even that would've been better, with amarendra paying visits,atleast in spirit form,guiding her and being with her and their son always!as a guardian Angel😭.
